Starbread — Restaurant in Pleasant Hill

I worried that they may be closed but I was able to walk in at 6:58pm and get a box of bread. It was my first time visiting this location because I used to go to the one in Vallejo. I'm not sure if this is due to the late hour I visited the bakery but the bread was very disappointing. The flavor was similar to what I had in Vallejo except much sweeter. The bread was drenched in so much syrup that it was soaked through the middle and every piece was stuck together so hard that I could not get one out without breaking it. It was also very dense, not airy and soft like the ones from Vallejo maybe because it was so wet. Disappointing Experience with Cold Ensaymada and Poor Customer Service

I had a disappointing experience at this bakery. Firstly, they served their ensaymada cold, which was surprising and concerning as it's typically served fresh. When I inquired about warming it up, I was told it wasn't possible. This left me unsure about the freshness of the product.

To make matters worse, the staff member's attitude escalated when I expressed my surprise about the cold ensaymada, even though I hadn't even touched it yet. Additionally, when I politely asked for napkins, the response I received was unnecessarily curt.

Amazing and friendly staff and deliciously wonderful baked goods! Very small and quaint place with all sorts of items varying from their infamous Senorita Bread to cupcakes, brownies, cookies, ham and cheese roll, hotdog and cheese roll, and a variety of different types of strudel. You can find these different items popping up throughout the day. For example, the ham and cheese roll and hotdog and cheese roll are normally available after 10am to 11am and are around until they sell out. Very affordable.
