I came here by accident and it was certainly a mistake. The food was not very good, especially the nachos…My nacho’s were smothered in what tasted and looked like “Taco Bell sauce”. As anyone would figure, the nachos were soggy before they were even halfway finished. Gross! It was extremely disappointing and the carne asada was not even noticeable as a topping amongst the thick layer of refried beans that also smothered the chips on the plate. I’ve included a picture of the mess. The picture below is after two bites/chips were taken from the meal. The whole thing looks more like lasagna than it does nachos. It’s too bad it didn’t taste like lasagna though. Maybe then I would have eaten it all.
Service was mas menos. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken and arrived quickly. After that the service wasn’t great. I asked to split the bill (between me and my coworker) when our orders were being taken. The waitress said “No problem.” After waiting around (being passed by numerous times without being checked on by the waitress) for about 15 minutes after eating, I finally flagged her down to get our checks so that we could get back to work. I gave her my card (for my meal) and she charged everything to my card even though we asked for a split bill at the beginning. The splitting of the check is not such a big deal but it is still part of the “service” experience and we were late at getting back to work.
Bonus content I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not, but about 2 hours after lunch I was in the bathroom with a bad stomach ache that didn’t go away until later that evening. Don’t make the same mistake that I did. There are two Mexican restaurants that have similar names. This one is the wrong place. Go to the “female gender”named restaurant which is:
“La Tapatia” ^^^that’s the right place and you won’t be disappointed or sick to...
Read moreMy son and I have been here a hand full of times cause we love their fajitas. That said, my son was craving nachos for lunch today so I suggested he try the nachos here so we ordered takeout. When placing our order we specifically asked what they put on the nachos and they replied "beans, monterey jack cheese guacamole and sour cream."
That sounded close to perfect..( pico de gallo would make it perfect). Nonetheless we placed pur order and 15 min later I picked it up. 6 min later I arrived home and we were beyond disappointed upon seeing the nachos. They had failed to mention it is DRENCHED IN ENCHILADA SAUCE & THE BEANS ARE REFRIED BEANS...UGH
As u can see from my pics ... the nachos were NOTHING LIKE DESCRIBED. The chips were SOGGY from the heaviness of the unnecessary sauce and excessive refried beans, the cheese didnt stretch... i could go on and on.
TO SUM THIS UP IN A NUTSHELL...THE NACHOS ARE NOT EDIBLE. ADVICE TO OWNER...PLACE AN ANONYMOUS TOGO ORDER TO TAKE HOME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF HOW AGITATING IT FEELS TO BE HUNGRY, CRUNCHED FOR TIME AND BE GIVEN THIS TO EAT... I HIGHLY SUGGEST A RECIPE MAKEOVER FOR YOUR NACHOS.
Other than this, restaurant is clean and ingredients are average quality but considering my takeout order did not include plastic ware or even a simple napkin the service doesnt do much for improving the...
Read moreEl Tapatio is a great Mexican restaurant all around. It's main aren't is it's quality in food paired with it's incredible affordability.
First of all, chips are free, a must for any authentic Mexican restaurant. And they come with a solid set of salsas too. The red is the tastier of the two in my opinion, but could benefit from some added spice akin to that if the green.
The burritos, enchiladas, and tacos here are all great, and very cheap. You can come here with friends, and leave incredible satisfied having not even spent over $10.
The supersized burritos are pretty darn big, and over themselves at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is solid, and the seating options are good too. There is also a bar in the restaurant for those looking to grab a drink. The staff is very nice, and they are quick to bring you your food. The location is okay, a bit hidden, but near the Sunvalley Mall and DVC, therefore offering convenience for many in the area.
To conclude, it's a great restaurant with when greater deals. Come here hungry, and leave satisfied, all while barely...
