I go to Nordstrom rack everyday and the makeup section is a mess because everyone one opens everything. But I don’t blame the customers because there are no testers. But when I buy makeup from there I like to open it up to see if it’s in nice condition and I go purchase it. Because there have been instances where I pick the most pristine package in the back but when I get home and open it there’s full of fingerprints and smears. Today around 12-1pm I went to Nordstrom rack and a small eyeshadow duo caught my eye. I picked it up because I really wanted to see the color inside since the packaging was covering it. But before I could even do so. An employee yelled” MA’AM DONT OPEN IT”(she was short, wore glasses and had curly short hair tied into a slick bun and said that she works in the makeup section now) I was so mortified and embarrassed because she literally yelled at me in front everyone and I didn’t even know about the new rule and everything else in that section seemed in a mess anyways. All I said was “oh sorry”and I wanted to leave right there because I felt as if I almost wanted to cry because it was so rude. Her tone when she said that was almost like “ I’m sick of customers like you opening everything and ruining things or stealing things.”She didn’t bother to say sorry or explain to me why. I work in customer service and customers can be aggressive, but I still treat them with respect and my number one rule is to not scold at anyone. Even if a customer is doing something as bad as stealing for example. You dont have the right to yell at them in public. You pull them to the side and talk to them. I really don’t want to tell an employee how to do their job because that’s just embarrassing. I won’t be coming here anymore. I felt as if that employee was watching my every move to the point where I didn’t want to touch anything. Sad that Nordstrom rack takes our right away to check the items and their condition before we purchase them. I called Nordstrom’s customer service center and I made a complaint so I should hear back from them soon. However if I don’t hear back from anyone I will personally come back to this Nordstrom rack and speak to the manager because this ruined my day and I’ll be telling my friends and relatives who shop here weekly...
Read moreMy husband went to return some clothes he bought two days ago for an internship interview. He had grabbed a few options to choose from but ended up wearing something from Macy’s instead. So he brought the stuff from Nordstrom Rack back, with the tags still on and everything, and the lady refused to return them. She claimed they looked worn. They were never worn. He had noticed something but it wasn’t super noticeable and he didn’t cause it so he didn’t think twice about it.
What really bothered me is that I used to work there, and I know for a fact that people return stuff all the time after trying it on, sometimes with makeup or deodorant stains, and the store just puts it back on the floor like that. Or people will try stuff in store and leave them stained. So for them to say his stuff looked worn felt like a stretch.
On top of that, they tried to return one of the items to a gift card instead of his debit card, which was his original form of payment. Again, speaking from experience as someone who used to work at this location, that only happens when they suspect someone is stealing or trying to scam the store.
It’s hard not to feel like he was being profiled. He’s a Black man with tattoos, and it honestly felt like they were judging him based on how he looked. It was embarrassing, frustrating, and totally uncalled for.
I’ll never shop there again. And if you’re a person of color, especially Black, just be careful shopping or trying to return anything there. That kind of treatment...
Read more05.11.2024 Bravo! Came back and guess what, you know it. Contactless payment works, very good all. Me and my beau need exercise meaning shopping and when we were inside Nordstrom we heard it, their intercom, that their contactless payment system works. Wow.. I have changed my review from 2 stars to five stars because of this experience and their staff very pleasant.

06.11.2023 Downgrade to a lower star Another anomaly, method of payment - contactless not working. No sign that contactless payment not working although it shows apple pay at their front entrance but soon ur in their counter for payment their employee doesn’t know.
09.21.2022 I am only giving it 3stars because of misleading payment. There are signs plastered all over the place for Apple Card payment, however when you are getting ready to payment .. error .. Sucks yo!
Mind you that this was my second time shopping at this location. My first time, Sep. 05, 2022 Labor Day. I figured it was a one time thing that their payment system malfunctioned. I definitely checked with my issuer but no data gone through in their system for I know this because I used it a lot.
