Clarion Hotel in Concord, CA was where employer booked my stay for 2 weeks (and was to be future stay until December. I called the evening before I was to check in and said I needed to check in around 4 am in the morning, asking if I need to pay for an additional day. I was told that would not be be necessary, as there were rooms available. When I arrived the person working said that I had to pay for an additional day, which was fine, but, he charged me $147 for the partial day and a $200 deposit. I asked for AAA discount, but did not receive that, or allow me to boook on my app ( only $97)because the night had already ended. I get to the room which is dirty, has trash under the bed and on top of tv cabinet, tables and furniture dusty and dirty, the worst condition possible. The bathroom was filthy, I did not even use the beds or shower, I went to work and came back and requested a bottom floor room, with a queen bed (the room my work book and paid) and I was told they needed my credit card for another $200 deposit. I informed them that it was paid for by my employer, However, they still wanted to charge me another $200 deposit. Somehow, they decided they could transfer my already paid deposit to the new 2 week stay. ( it’s worth staring my fellow employees did not have to pay a $200 deposit using their own personal credit cards) . So, I decide just to go get dinner and I get a call from the hotel stating that I will need to come pay the additional $200 deposit because they are keeping my initial $200 deposit because the sheets have a stain on them that is body fluid and will not be able to be removed. I told them to keep the sheet as I would be back there in 10 minutes. They said they wouldn’t keep it to show me, but instead had a picture. When I returned to the hotel they were at my room, it appeared they exited my room, but when they saw me they turned and knocked on the door. This was confusing because they knew I was not at the hotel and en route back there. They refused to show me any proof of any stain, even though I did not use the bed. Then informed me if I didn’t give them another $200, I would have to leave the hotel. I then had to call my employer and explain the nonsense that was happening and have them book me into a different hotel.
Another thing is when I go to hotels for long stays for work like this I actually bring my own sheets and bedding, which makes this whole ordeal outrageous. Now, I have no choice but to sue the hotel, report them to the health department, hotel association, attorney general, and consumer protection agency. This property needs to be shut down! It’s not suitable for or acceptable for anyone to stay, much less Covid -19 standards.not to mention the deplorable behavior conducted by the inept staff!!...
Read moreI travel for work every week so hotels isn’t a new thing for me I don’t think I’ve had an experience like this at any hotel or motel… every week I book or a coworker books 4 night stay this week so happed to in concord we stay at the this clarion I had issues every day with getting breakfast questioned on room number which isn’t a big deal I understand people may try to get free breakfast I understand but everyday I was hounded told my room number was wrong well on Friday the breakfast host had enough I was told I was lying about being a guest and that I’m stealing breakfast and proceeded to embarrass me by waking to the front counter and complaining about me i To the front desk on how I said had room but the name I said wasn’t on the list but was used to make reservations.. when talking to the breakfast sever she implied/told me me that she was fired the day before for the same thing that someone who wasn’t staying there was trying to steal food and she confronted them but they were guest. Now it wouldn’t be been a big deal if this only happened once but everyday I was treated like I was stealing food the wasn’t even real food it was mixed water eggs. The front desk told me that next time for previous reservations some info but I told her there wouldn’t be a next time I never want to feel treated that ever. The breakfast host tells me I won’t be here either… great customer service I wouldn’t aten anything from that woman’s hands if you paid me she hated her job and clearly dosent care about her service mind you that I’ve gotten breakfast 3/4 days everyday when I was questioned I told them if you guys don’t believe you see my room on where I sleep our work business trip that was paid for. I am a minority and I speak and understand Spanish fluently and any Spanish speaking person were taking care of and even some excluded from telling room numbers/last names but I don’t care it’s non of my business what happens in the breakfast area I’m just there to get some food and go to work I just hate being called a lair or thief at 6am in the morning and try to be embarrassed… I paid my 4 night stay but I guess it doesn’t matter because I’m just another face that they don’t want to see or have to deal with.. horrible experience I’d say take a Pictures of you’re room number with you standing in the door because trust me they will not take your word for it so I’m here to save you the embarrassment and the feelings...
Read moreI did lots of research and looked at multiple reviews of this hotel and honestly was a bit scared 😅 I knew from booking that it was a motel/hotel option. If you want the hotel (doors through the hallway) you have to pay more, but I prefer motels anyways. They were able to accommodate my request of having multiple rooms being placed on the same floor next to each other, which we really appreciated! Staff was very friendly and funny during check-in, when we were buying drinks, and checking out. Clean sheets, fairly comfortable bed. Nothing was peeling or breaking off, there were no signs of bed bugs or roaches or anything like that, and the property was very clean and nice. The hotel pool is very cold even on 100F+ days! For breakfast, we went once on the first morning and chose to pay for breakfast every other day. This hotels breakfast includes: eggs, sausage, and potatoes, single serve cereal and bagels. That's it. Thankfully they had salt and pepper packets because the eggs were bland, but the sausage was quiet good! One free water bottle per guest as well.
I only had two complaints, the first being that there's no real curtains on the motel window, just a white sheer going across. For me, the issue was not only for privacy and security, but also comfort as I don't sleep well with light. I always bring my sleep mask though, so it didn't bother me too much. The other issue was how small the bathrooms were. It was barely enough for me being the smallest of my group to maneuver comfortably. Now imagine having three grown adults hanging swimsuits and towels D: you can't even put the bath mat/towel on the ground without it being moved over by the door. Honestly, if the bathrooms were bigger, we would definitely be coming back to this hotel again! An easy 5-minute drive to Hurricane Harbor and the Veranda Shopping Center, cozy room, free parking. It was a bit nosy since you're right off the freeway but it really didn't bother us (where we live the train runs right across the street!).
TL:DR Clean, cozy motel with friendly staff, cold pool, and basic breakfast. Great location. Downsides: sheer curtains for motel, tiny bathrooms. Would return if bathrooms...
