They kicked us out for no reason. We made a reservation for 3 people, everything was fine at first, good service, they came excessive times to know if we were fine (which that’s not common in Michigan), nothing to complain. We ordered regular drinks, then mocktails (because we were driving), then snacks. We were planning to keep ordering either dessert or more drinks because the mood was nice. Then, another server (or hostess, who knows), came to our table to say we only had 10 minutes left for our reservation, we were co fused because we didn’t see anyone waiting outside. 2 minutes later she came with the terminal, charged us, and asked us to move to the bar if we wanted to keep drinking, my last drink was almost full. Then, our original server came to remind us we had to leave the table, that’s when I asked her why should we leave if the tables beside us were the same amount of time than us or even longer than us, and not everybody got food there. She said “The times limit depends on the amount of people per table”, that didn’t make sense for me so I asked her what’s the amount of time for 3 people but she didn’t know what to respond, she just said the other tables had more people, I asked her again what’s the exact time for 3 people because there was a couple beside us too with the same amount of time, and I told her they didn’t even give us the chance to keep ordering. Then, minutes later, she came back to say “my manager said it was a glitch in the system, you can stay if you keep ordering”, but we were upset by then. We told her we were leaving and she said, “well… you still have to pay”, that’s when I did get upset and told her we already paid when the other lady kicked us out for no reason, and she didn’t believe us, we had to show the receipts, which is also rude, because they should know that. My friend mentioned the lady spoke rude to me, I’ll give her the benefit of doubt and say she got defensive because I exposed her and didn’t fall on her lies. When we left, the table behind us left almost at the same time, and we asked them if they were kicked out too, and they said no, they just left because they were bar hopping, so yes… We were chosen to leave. So my question for this place is: Where in your website says the amount of time people is allowed to stay? What does it depend of? Is it because our looks? (Yes, we are not white, the only white person was a 50-60’s year old lady), why were we chosen instead of the other people who had the same amount of time? One table had 4, the other one 5 and the other one 2 people. So sad to read that this is a common practice on this place according to Google and it’s sad because the place was cute and we belong...
Read moreNot a positive experience, beware! Our nice evening totally got ruined by disrespectful and poorly trained server who claimed to be a manager on top of being rude to begin with. Imagine, sitting at the table seated at by a host and ordering variety of food and drinks that are definitely on the high end price level, suddenly after taking our next order, server demands our table free in 30 min due to upcoming reservation (???) That being before next order is served or even begun. Meanwhile, next table been sitting amply all night. No advance notice upon seating ever mentioned, no apologies of any kind in regards to reservation mishap... Upon asking for a manager, server claims to be a manager... Obviously, no proper costumer management skills present. Upon asking for GM, couldn't find one around but simply dissappeared and ignored us. In about 30 min or so got notified that, apparently they don't need our table anymore, we okay to stay when we finally were able to get our next order going. After a little bit same scenario repeated with another server. Not entirely sure what is up with the service and the place all together, however that is truly the most humiliating experience ever came across in so called "high end" bar/restaurant. Btw, talking about New York level of service, this is not anywhere near it, long way to go and learn... Know that well as been working in Manhattan top notch restaurants and clubs management myself for many years. Menu is limited as being a bar menu, lobster flatbread sounded good but arrived very dry/overcooked and wasn't worth $35, tuna was okay. Withnessed young lady kicked out of a bar seat to give her seat to a newly arrived couple was another shocking experience. Not sure ever want to go back. Somewhat bohemian atmosphere, with professionally designed bar and interior approach and musty basement scent. Definitely not a New York City after all! Would like to give more stars but servers totally ruined our experience. If anyone wants to go pay double price to take a chance to get poorly treated, then...
Read moreTook my sister to The Ebenezer to celebrate her 21st birthday and we had a great time! The music and atmosphere was amazing. The staff paid extra attention to detail and checked availability for us to go upstairs at The Ledger. This is THE spot for a night out in Plymouth!
As a woman and older sister, I am always looking out for other women. I had run into a woman in the bathroom that was hiding from a strange man that was making her very uncomfortable and would not leave her alone after refusing him. There was another man (mid 30s) at the bar that tried to come over to our table to make a move on my 21 year old sister. He was exuding concerning behavior and would not leave us alone after many requests for him to stop. He continued to make a scene. It was obvious his friend was trying to calm him down and get him to leave. This was happening directly in front of the security who did absolutely nothing. The Ebenezer prides itself in being an upscale speakeasy, and they expect their guests to behave accordingly. I ask that security be vigilant when it comes to erratic, disruptive, and...
