Luigi's Famous Pizza — Restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach

So I usually don't write reviews, but I felt I needed to share my recent experience with this restaurant. We ordered a good amount of food via DoorDash yesterday at around 4:30 p.m and scheduled delivery for 7:30 p.m., but we never received the order even though we had already prepaid for the order. There was enough time given to the restaurant to prepare and deliver our order, but they never followed through. We tried calling around 8 pm, and there was no answer, we went to the restaurant around 8:15 PM and saw they were closed, all lights off except for the open sign. By 8:30 p.m., our order showed up in our DoorDash account as being completed and delivered, but still no food. I understand that with it being a holiday, things can happen, but this is still unacceptable that there was no communication from the restaurant that we weren't going to be able to get our order or that there was a problem completing the order in time. Thankfully, DoorDash customer service was able to give us a credit for the order immediately. We had to scramble to get something ordered asap due to most restaurants closing or already closed due to the holiday. This isn't the first time we've had an issue with this restaurant with food delivery, but this instance is the last straw. I love their food and the multiple dietary options they have available, but the lack of communication and professionalism is unacceptable, and this is the reason why I will never order...

“To each their own” refers to your review, whether positive or negative, doesn’t mean much because I’m an American Italian who is very picky but likes to taste pizza from random pizzerias. So, while visiting NJ shore near Point Pleasant, NJ, someone recommended LUIGIS FAMOUS PIZZA place on Washington Ave here in PP, NJ. It’s raining on this particular Thursday, waiting for hurricane Larry to reach the shore and walked into this small but mighty store front. It’s takeout or delivery! We didn’t want to wait and the pizza displayed in the window offered everything we wanted: Sicilian squares and wedge slices of very thin crusted Margarita with the best flavor. In the uploaded photo I rated good, better, best. My opinion according to sauce, crust and cheese. It all matters. I give my personal review with hopes that readers will just stop by and try it, too. This was my go to place for a square sweet sausage and pepper pie years ago before the old owner passed away. They were great! This review is a long overdue. Years ago I gave the new owner many chances to continue to sell us pizza. I even called him to let him know that he was putting hot sausage on the sausage and pepper pie after specifically ordering it with sweet sausage like 3 different times!. I got nothing but arguments from the guy saying he makes it just like the previous owner.? I disagreed and told him I was doing him a favor by informing him it’s not like it was previously.
