The Beanery — Restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach

It's one of the WORST places I've eaten in South Jersey. Cozy atmosphere with so much hidden potential, but service, cleanliness and food quality was sorely lacking. The waitress actually pulled a chair up to sit at our tiny table to take our order, and there were only two of us! Stuff on the floor. Condiments on the table were not clean. The presentation of what we ordered (salads) was awful. We had to return guacamole (slimy & too salty) and she merely said, "Oh, it's not made here so we can't do much about that," and still charged us for the chips (which we were not eating without guac); only took half of the cost off the check. She rushed us out after asking 3x if we wanted anything else, then got our desserts so wrong, we ended up with warmed up carrot cake with the icing melting off and a sundae we did not order instead of the simple plain scone we had ordered. I'd love to whip this place into shape to make it the gold mine it could be....

I have been going to the Beanery since the beginning, many moons ago. The food is always delicious however gluten free options are inconsistent- sometimes they have wraps, sometimes they don’t. I’m allergic to yeast as well as wheat so that is more of a challenge for me. The staff can really give you the feeling like they don’t really care whether you’re there or not. Middle of the week visit, several weeks ago, we waited for 15 minutes before anyone said a word or acknowledged us even as the servers passed us without eye contact. (No tables available). Once a table was cleaned, we sat and waited another 20 minutes but no one came to take our order and finally we got up and walked out - 35 minutes without even placing an order. So cute place, my first time. My daughter has been here a few times and liked it. So here is my mixed review. My husband had a shrimp salad, everything was good and fresh but the ingredients didn't make sense together so it just tasted a bit off. My daughter loved her sandwich on some delicious bread. I love quiche and thought this would be the place since it was the special...... No, horrible, gross, dry. I couldn't eat it. Like really bad. Waitress took it off the check but since she NEVER came back to our table after delivering food, I didn't want to order anything else when everyone else was finished and make my family sit and watch me eat so I left hungry....I will probably try it again (one more time) because my daughter likes it there. Tip: Serving 101, come back and check on your table, no excuses they had...
