In the day and age of Amazon prime and the quick dopamine hit of 2 day shipping it would be easy to dismiss the local bookstore as a relic of retail days gone by.

But to dismiss a stores value on that alone leaves you blind to discovering what a bookstore can really be. Yes of course you get your latest reads in the form it was always mean to be read in, with wonderful cover art and pages that beg to be dog eared. But it's also a place for the community to come and meet local (and not so local) authors, a place to feel free in your passions and expression of the human experience through one of our most powerful mediums: words.

My family and I were visiting for the weekend and stopped by to get a drink and use the restroom (which is open to customers). My family and I were the only customers in the book store at the time. We purchased a soda, and asked if there was a bottle opener because we were unable to open the cap. Upon request, the ‘sales associate’ said ‘we don’t have one.’ As I continued to struggle to open the bottle, a more experienced associate then approached me and opened the bottle with none other than a Bottle opener. When I then made a comment to the sales associate, she said plainly ‘I did not know.’

About 5 minutes later, we approached the same sales associate and notified her that there was no toilet paper in the restroom. Her response was ‘I don’t know.’

I went today to the café in the back and got an iced lavender matcha latte with oat milk and it was actually life changing. Both lavender and matcha are flavors that are so easily overpowered by other flavors so oftentimes you'll order something lavender or matcha flavored and not be able to taste it. But guys let me tell you. In the latte I ordered you are able to taste each individual component. The matcha taste is extremely clear and not gritty at all. The lavender was delightfully floral without being soapy. And you can also taste the oatmilk which is slightly nutty and adds creaminess to the latte.
