I'm from the south east. I moved to the PNW recently and I've been craving real, southern style slow cooked BBQ. This is the closest I've come to finding that smoky, woodsy flavor that Ive been looking for. I had the pulled pork sandwich with beans, coleslaw and the corn muffin. The beans are good, but could use a bit more brown sugar (they are vegetarian so no bacon). The coleslaw is pretty standard, but not bad (and bad coleslaw is the worst so this easily passes the taste test). The corn muffin is basically a corn muffin cake and I will never complain about that! However the star of the show is the pulled pork. It's very, very good. It has a very pleasing, almost floral taste (think really high end coffee) and that quickly converts to that smoky/woodsy flavor I mentioned above. The texture is PERFECT and the pork is expertly shredded. I love that the sandwich comes on a potato bun with the coleslaw (a very nice touch since that's how we eat it in Tennessee). The homemade BBQ sauce is also on point. My personal preference is sweetness over vinegar, but BBQ sauces are like opinions and a**holes: everyone's got one and everyone thinks that their's is the best.
Overall, a great spot for BBQ in Port Angeles.
I will definitely be going back...
Read moreI went here on a Saturday at 12 pm and me and my great uncle earl wanted us some barbecue so I pushed him up there in his wide body wheelchair and once we got there it was closed me and uncle were were mad so we ended up going to a burger place which was great but me and uncle earl are never going to barbecue. Again Yeehaw they might as well say they are closed on the hours signed which it said it was open today also my great uncle earl’s wheelchair siding fit in the wheel chair holder so he started rolling down the hill and rolled into a car. With wide body wheelchairs with Dale Earnhardt stickers on it actually just don’t go here at all. Do it for...
Read moreWe tried this little hole-in-the-wall joint on a whim while visiting Port Angeles and I am so glad we did! It came highly recommended by the owner of the coffeehouse down the block and for good reason. The pulled pork and housemade barbecue sauce were divine. The pork was so tender it melted in my mouth, and the sweet barbecue sauce added a delightful tang that coated every piece. Portion sizes of pork and tubs of barbecue sauce were more than generous, too.
Big props to the owner/operator/chef because he is a phenom in the kitchen! I will now be making this restaurant a destination whenever I make the trek up to...
