As a regular of The Haven, I have always been captivated by its delightful atmosphere and exceptional cuisine.
Recently, I read a review that contrasts with my numerous positive experiences at this cherished local spot, prompting me to share my perspective. Yea, I’m doing this. 👊🏻
The intimate setting of The Haven marks it a Port Angeles staple. It offers cozy nooks and nuances that remind me of my childhood.
My personal favorite plate is the bagel and salmon lox, with capers, red onion. It’s an east coast classic found only at The Haven.
Contrary to the negative review mentioning a ‘lackluster’ Chicken Sandwich, my experiences with their menu have been consistently impressive. The Chicken Sandwich I’ve enjoyed numerous times has always been served with fresh, aromatic bread and succulent chicken, a stark contrast to the description in the previous review.
These issues can only raise the possibility that the reviewer’s senses of taste and smell might be affected by a medical condition like dysgeusia or anosmia, often caused by various health issues. Such conditions can significantly alter one’s perception of flavors and aromas, and it might be beneficial for them to seek medical advice. (Yea I’m still doing this 👊🏻)
The orange juice at The Haven has always been a refreshing complement to my meals, served with care and tasting vibrant and fresh. This again contrasts with the previous review, suggesting a potential distortion in the reviewer’s sense of taste.
Might I suggest the upgrade to French Roast over regular? ☕️ you know you’re doing it right
The service at First Street Haven is another aspect that deserves praise. The staff is consistently attentive and professional, often going beyond expectations to ensure a comfortable dining experience. The claim of not being offered water seems to a first world problem and not a First Street...
Read moreCustomer service was amazing and our server was great. Eggs Benedict had an issue, the hollandaise was broken as can be viewed in the picture. A good hollandaise is critical to eggs benny. Burger was a bit below par, patties taste from frozen not fresh beef. Fresh beef is critical for a good burger. Disappointing for a $15 burger. Fries are awesome shoe string style . Coffee would be better if served in ceramic mugs to retain heat and not in a glass cup style. I want to say the server we had was amazing.
*Edit to the owners response. My goods and great were for the servers that you hired who do a wonderful job but it wasn't about the food that good was good and great. Her attentiveness to our table was very well done. What the kitchen's doing is not her fault. It's not a food blog, it's a review that is honest and fair. I don't want to have to send food back for the fear of retaliation. Whoever's running the pass should be checking each dish before they're served. I would just prefer it to be sent out correctly the first time. I adjusted to two stars because I think maybe I was being a little too harsh but it is a shame you didn't address the fact that the beef is frozen. Also it'd be better if you came up with a system for the types of coffee that didn't affect the heat of what's being served. In&Out can do an all fresh burger and has a price of $7.55 if we are going to speak of competitors. I hope you take my criticisms to do better for the success of your business as that is the intent of my review. It's not to put you down or make you feel bad about what you do but in hopes that maybe you'll improve. It's not regulars you're trying to impress but people who have never been there. Regulars aren't going to rave to their friends and family about somewhere they eat all the time but new people...
Read moreLove this little place. I was here about 6 years ago while visiting the peninsula on vacation from Florida: read about the cinnamon rolls and picked to eat here solely based on the rave reviews of them: got here and they were sold out. I was so sad. Still ate breakfast and LOVED it. Can't remember what I had (I think french toast and hash browns) but remember loving it. Fast forward to this past weekend. On vacation again from out of state; remembered loving the breakfast from before and STILL dying to try the cinnamon rolls, so my boyfriend and I stopped in on our way to Cape Flattery. Guess what? CINNAMON ROLLS SOLD OUT AGAIN. Gahhhh! I am never going to get to try these infamous rolls. I was so sad again, but your food is soooo delicious. I had a ham and cheese breakfast sandwich that was INCREDIBLY flavorful--grilled on sour dough bread that is probably the best I've had (and I've been to San Fran and had sour dough there, so I speak from experience LOL). My boyfriend had pancakes and sausage and eggs, and he loved it all--I had some of his pancakes and they were incredible. So, despite once again not getting to try the cinnamon rolls, I left happy (but sad). We got drinks to go that were perfection! I had a mocha latte and my boyfriend had a coconut latte---we raved about those drinks all weekend; we were in Seattle for the weekend and kept comparing drinks we got there to the ones we got from you and have to say yours are head-and-shoulders above anything we found in Seattle. Ironic, huh? LOL Thanks for the delicious meal and wonderful service. I will FOR SURE be back again someday--maybe three times will be the charm on the...
