My husband and I are staying at the hotel next door, and when we were ready for dinner, a lot of places were closing early. We decided to go next door. We walked in and were seated by the host, and she got us water. Our waiter came by and talked about what we'd like. we weren't ready just yet, and we didn't see her for at least 8 minutes. I made eye contact with the host several times, but she never came to us or got our waiter. My husband's stomach was upset, so he just did the salad bar, and I was so hungry. I was just going to ditch what I wanted and go to the salad bar, too. As I started to stand, she came by. I ordered seafood pick 3, clams, fried oysters, and salmon. Food came, and the veggies were old and over steamed. You picked up the broccoli, and it was pale and falling apart. Clams, where not great in some kind of butter sauce with bell peppers in it? Clams were the sizes of my pinky nail, no clam fork brought (the host did come by and asked if I wanted one when I was almost done) or dish for my clam shells. Oysters weren't properly fried, zero oyster taste. The salmon visually had seasoning but tasted off, had two bites, and looked at the skin, which wasn't a good color and pale. I liked my baked potato, and the clam chowder was good, not homemade. Waiter didn't check on us at all. Sadly, husband asked for the check so we could go somewhere else.

Where the salad is the star?: Yes that is a question. The service was quite good during our visit, and my wife and daughter were happy with their orders. Because, honestly, there are few ways to fail at Grilled Cheese, Shrimp Melts, and French Fries. I ordered the Caesar Chowder Supreme, which is a womper of a Caesar salad and Clam Chowder in a bread bowl. The salad was something else, in a good way. An unexpected delight. The croutons must have been made with the extra bagels and bread used for other purposes because they were large, crispy/chewy, and diverse in shape/color/flavor. The Clam Chowder left A LOT to be desired. A French bread bowl is a poor choice, regardless the circumstances. But the chowder itself was the true disappointment. It tasted smoky and bitter. By far, not what you would expect. There was little to no creamy flavor of the broth, and while the potatoes and clams were well-portioned, the flavor permeated and ruined the entire dish. Getting a can of Progresso and heating it up with a slice of Sourdough would have been a much preferred alternative. Shame, because the staff were quite nice and prompt with water, taking our order, and then delivering said order.

We came on New Year’s day. Nice place to get dinner, but service was bad. Someone placed us at a table immediately, but our server forgot about us completely and did not even bring us water until someone else noticed and did. When ordering, the server was not very friendly and made me uncomfortable of asking questions even though it was my husband and I’s first time there. When we ordered, she didn’t even care to clarify how things work. I got the fish and chips and my husband got the Joshua burger, I think. He got the clam chowder as a side, but we actually had to pay extra for it. According to the menu, it says it’s included, but I guess not. I will say the clam chowder was delicious though. We also asked for ketchup for the fries and lemon for our water, and they forgot about it. She eventually remembered to bring our ketchup, so there’s that. I’ll try other places before going back here when I visit Port Angeles next time.

We ate here on Friday Sept. 6 for dinner. I debated on whether to write this review or not because these factors may or may not be something the restaurant can even help so let me tread carefully here. First off - the staff was nice! They were kind, caring. They were friendly so let me emphasize that for good faith. The food was good. Not amazing, but good. The atmosphere though - there was something about the lighting and the way that things were set up that made me feel like I was either in a middle school cafeteria or an interrogation room with how the lights were and it wasn't comfortable. Maybe softer lights are better? Secondly it was FREEZING in there. We were shivering the whole time. And we are not the only ones who felt that way because later on when we left, this woman walked out at the same time we did and she even said "wow it's cold in there!" For this next part this is where I want to tread carefully because this may or may not be something that the restaurant can even help. Although the staff was very friendly, I felt like they didn't check on us often enough. Half the time I felt like I was looking for them to ask something. But maybe they were busy and I understand but I just wanted to be honest about my experience. And then this next part is what will make me never come here again but again..... This is not the fault of the staff and this might be something that the restaurant can never control. The demographic of the people in the restaurant in how they were acting was very very strange and made me feel uncomfortable the whole dinner. I truly felt like I was in the twilight zone. For example, 2 tables away was an elder guy just burping LOUDLY repeatedly!! Repeatedly! I lost my appetite! Then 3 tables down were 2 older guys talking LOUDLY on their cell phones as if they were the only ones in the whole restaurant! Then directly to my left was an older guy who kept whistling high pitch every few minites to the point where I almost shivered at the sound of it throughout the entire dinner. It was one of those almost "nails on a chalk board" sound. Eek! See...... This is why I want to tread carefully in saying this because this is something that the restaurant may not be able to control. But the demographic in this restaurant not necessarily with age but with the way the customers were acting gave a very very very uncomfortable experience that I have never in my entire life experienced in any restaurant! I guess the only thing I could ask for the staff is simply to just be AWARE Of what the atmosphere is like and what people are creating in the atmosphere for the rest of the...

READ THIS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!! This was my first and LAST time trying this so-called restaurant: this was by far the WORST dining out experience I've ever had and would advise anyone who isn't a "local favorite" to find ANYWHERE else to eat. First, two different parties who arrived AFTER mine were eating before the waitress Ellen even stopped at my table to take orders. She outright ignored my easy special request (extra crispy fries; the cook later confirmed it was NOT written on the ticket!) then she smirked and belittled me when I mentioned it. She was an absolute nightmare from the start, pointedly ignoring my table and when I requested to speak with the manager on duty she apparently was it. I told her that half the food was not edible (which was true; the fries were not only limp grease bombs, they were so heavily salted it was literally choking and we could only eat a few before giving up!) Even though the burgers were mediocre at best (blatant frozen foodservice pre-formed patties atop stale bland sesame buns) we ate them up because we were very hungry. I told Ellen that it was unacceptable to be overlooked while later guests were already eating. I told her I shouldn't have to pay for the entire meal when we couldn't eat half. She again smirked and asked me "how much cents" ("sense" pun, ha ha) did I think I need? She continued to insult and patronize me, and even began to yell. At that point I informed her I refused to pay for any of that $#!++y treatment or food and stormed out. She chased me into the parking lot, and said she was calling the police on a dine and dash. Since I am not a thief, and dining and dashing is premeditated, I had no choice but to return to that horror and dish out over $40 for a crummy burger, a shared pitcher of beer, and more abuse than I've ever been privy to as a paying customer. I promised Ellen she would see a scathing letter to the editor but then realized it's far more important to inform a wider audience about this experience so they might avoid a similar one, than to use an outmoded and singular approach to proliferate...

I went there on a Saturday and when I came in, I sat up front at the stool. I ordered coffee which was not given to me until 10 minutes later. I had already sat down my menu to let them know I was ready...that again took some time. After I ordered my food, I saw that the order was placed on the counter and ready for pick up because the cook called out the order. My coffee was already drunk and no one came to fill my cup. I looked at the clock on my phone to see how long it would take someone to pick up the food I had ordered...That happened after 9 minutes.

The only reason I stayed at the restaurant was in hopes that the service would improve...it did not. No one ever came back to refill my coffee. I just sat there and watched the waitresses go back and forth, and the place was not packed.

My waitress conveniently talked with another lady in the back and not at any one time came to see if I needed anything. Actually, I don't know if the working group there was having a bad day, but being friendly is not a word I would use to describe the people who work there.

About this time because I had been sitting there a while, a waitress asked if I wanted more coffee and if I wanted to take my leftover food. I told her no and she gave me the slip to pay. The funny thing is, when she counted back my change, she hesitated...like I was going to give her a tip. I thought about it because I have tipped bad service before, but I decided against it. I wasn't about to give them something...
