Maggie's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Port Huron

So here's the real scoop, the food is infact good, and authentic.

As far as flavor, it's honestly very enjoyable to eat, especially with that hot sauce they don't give you enough of.

The con is that the price points for everything on the menu is pretty high. No matter what you get, it's 15+ dollars per item🤦🏻‍♀️.

Want a burrito? Over 15 dollars. Want 3 small tacos? Over 15 dollars. Want a Tamale or Quesadilla? Same thing: over 15 dollars.

The sides are literally 2 bites of beans and rice, which is honestly laughable. I'm not a large individual either, I'm very slim so its definitely not like a ferocious appetite type of thing either, but the portions you get for the price point is kinda a joke to me personally.

Maybe if the sides you got with your tiny meal wasn't so absurdly small it wouldn't be AS bad, but if you're buying 2 meals here - for 2 people, no matter what its 30+ dollars. With zero chance of leftovers.

You could spend that same amount at most restaurants for takeout, and you'd get way waaaayyyy more food than what Maggie offers for these atrocious price points.

At first when you arrive it is a little confusing but when I found my way to the back side of the store I was greater with pleasantries. The two ladys working were very nice with great personalitys.they I formed me the menu changes every week so I got there 4 tacos rice and beans for I believe around 16 and the 4 biria tacos for the same price paid $31 with card so about $2.58 an item wich is not bad at all I ordered one of each taco type and a full order of biria tacos. I will say the pull pork taco was a little thick and rich for my liking but nonetheless less the other three types and the birria tacos were superb the best in the st clair county I've had by far I will be a returning customer. I used to think all Mexican food tasted the same, and then I had Maggie's. Competes for the best Mexican food I've ever had, and it's in my back yard. Awesome. They have a rotating 3 item menu, and that's why I think this place shines. They do a few menu items really well instead of a huge menu, and you can tell everything is made from scratch.

Sure, it's in a bit of a hole in the wall and they are working through some initial growing pains and logistics, but the staff and customers milling around are awesome and the whole experience for me was great. I'll be back, and when another customer exclaims 'Ive been waiting for 20 years for good Mexican food in this area - it's worth the wait' I can see why.
