It’s true, one bad experience can ruin your general perception of a restaurant. I have loved Pompeii for many years, but my last experience did just that. To start off, we were seated immediately. Although not the restaurants fault, it was very, very loud. I attribute that just to a few inconsiderate people. Sat for almost a half hour before anyone came to even get our drink order. Ordered both our drinks and entrees at that time. After another 10 mins got my endless salad and bread/dipping oil. So no real problem by this time. Waited another 45 mins and still no food. Watched several tables that arrived around the time as us get their food, eat and leave. Waitress never checked on us, offered refills of drinks or my endless salad/bread, used dishes and cutlery still sitting on the table. Husband had to flag her down twice for coffee refills. Asked about bread and salad refills, and waitress got defensive, by that time I figured our food had to be coming out soon so said I really didn’t want any. So she brings it anyway, pointing out that we were making such a big deal out of it. Another 20 mins, still no food or drink refills. The couple next to us that arrived about 30 mins after us gets their food. Flag our waitress down again, she sighs heavily and says she’ll check on our food. Comes back to our table and asks what we ordered because she can’t find our order in the kitchen. We tell her Calzone and Veal She comes back still can’t find our order but says she’ll get it right away. By then we are pretty fed up and say we just want to cash out and leave. Wait 10 mins to get our bill, we finally just go up front and catch the server. She says they are already cooking our order. We told her again we were leaving and wanted to cash out, she went back into the kitchen, we thought she was getting the manager…but no one came out so after 5 mins standing there we just left. A couple tables near us must have picked up on what was going on when we got up because they made comments that they didn’t blame us and that our treatment was ridiculous. This was such a bad experience, I doubt I’ll ever go back. 2 hrs and no food besides a salad and bread for me. I have never walked out of a restaurant...
Read moreI drove an hour to get to this place and was very disappointed! I had the calamari appetizer and it was very tough and chewy and the breading was not sticking to the calamari... but I will say the sauce it was prepared in was delicious! For my main entrée, I ordered Eggplant Parmesan that came with a side of spaghetti and I ordered two meatballs extra on the side! The meatballs were ice cold in the middle and very bland tasting! The egg plant was the worst I've ever had! It was cut too thick therefore it was still quite firm and hard and bitter! Also the portion was extremely small! My salad was wilted and tasted like it was made a couple days before hand and there was nothing special about the italian dressing! Finally I can say that there was one redeeming quality about this meal! Their meat sauce was fantastic! The side of spaghetti that came with the Egg plant Parmesan was the only good thing about the entire meal! The side of spaghetti is usually served with a marinara sauce but I asked for meat sauce instead and it really was very good! But I could tell that the noodles were cooked way in advance and put in little ziploc baggies and then they throw them in some hot water to warm them up! The noodles were too soft! And the focaccia bread that they served had a wonderful texture, it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside but still was very bland! I am a blue-collar working girl and I treat myself to one meal out per week and this meal cost me $36 and I am sad and disappointed with the food! I want to complement the server though, when I expressed my concerns about the entire meal she apologized and said that she would talk to her family about my experience! It turns out that she is related to the owners… She was a wonderful server, great attitude and personality and...
Read moreIf I could give no stars that would be ideal for me been wanting to come in here for years I live right by the place, so me and a friend of mine, which is Caucasian I’m African-American. We decide to go in there. I had no idea that that place has such a racist spirit in there. Little hostess was sweet. She said us as soon as we were walking to our table another table I was sitting here a younger girl just staring at us. I’m like OK sit down. There’s a lady behind us at another table. Who’s staring at him like why are you with this black girl? Oh my God he could’ve been a business partner. We could’ve worked with each other. You don’t know what why we were togetherthe old server, old lady not attractive, looking or anything walk by and ask what we want to drink we just started with two waters we’re gonna get drinks from the bar. She walked by us three times without one water in her hand. OK I have 20 years experience in serving. This is very unacceptable and the fact that it is 2025 in this little bitty restaurant has such an old racist spirit in.
