Food portions are Generous. You will not leave hungry. The vuelve la vida is fantastic (Shrimp, Oysters, Calamari and Crab Meat) Amazing!
I had a friend walk me into this place 2 years ago and I have lived in the Valley 40+ years. I have not stopped taking people to this restaurant since.
Hands down an incredible restaurant. This is a simple restaurant that is not fancy but is extremely clean and well staffed. The waters and waitresses are friendly. The manager takes the time to walk to each table and ask if you need something to take your items home in and if you need anything else to drink. This location moved from in front of HEB to its current location - I was so happy to see it re-open. If you are anywhere close you should stop by. The seafood market is incredible and you must try the Ceviche!
There is a small convenience fee for using a credit card. This is not a negative!!! The restaurant is worth a few extra bucks on your bill (Seriously mean that, enough to say..."the restaurant itself deserves the tip too!")
The wait staff earn their tips. When I go to the island I stop by at least twice while I am here and once before I leave to take orders home to friends. The prices are great and the Diablo shrimp is also awesome.
I have (never) had an issue and never expect one; however, it is refreshing to see management respond to comments in a kind and respectful manner. The staff tries hard just read the reviews and even on the few negatives received the owners and even their seafood boat captains have responded. That is incredible teamwork!
Customer service counts. This place will not disappoint. They try hard and the seafood soup great and has a wonderful spicy taste.
Blessings and thank you for the great food. The vuelve la vida is fantastic (Shrimp, Oysters, Calamari and Crab...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received at your restaurant. This was my first time visiting, and unfortunately, it was a very negative experience.
After placing my order, I waited 25 minutes for the complimentary chips and soup. I noticed that other tables around me, who had arrived after I did, had already received theirs. When I began to wonder if my order had been forgotten, George, who was not even my waiter, overheard me and said, "Don't worry, they are coming."
When the complimentary items finally arrived, George approached me as I was eating my soup and said, while chuckling, "Are you happy?" twice. I found this behavior to be incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional.
I requested to speak with a manager, who, instead of addressing my concerns, seemed intent on defending George's behavior. The manager simply apologized and said he would check the cameras. If I were the manager, I would have offered a complimentary dessert to try to make up for the poor experience and avoid a bad review.
Even after paying my bill, I asked if I could at least receive a dessert, explaining that I had been unable to eat my meal comfortably due to the incident. My request was denied, and I was instead offered the owner's phone number. Frankly, if the manager was unwilling to assist me, I doubt the owner would be of any more help.
I left the restaurant feeling very disappointed. I had chosen your establishment based on its positive reviews, but it seems that a single act of generosity could have easily prevented this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place was recommended by a family member so we thought we'd try it out. My family and I have never been to Port Isabel or South Padre so we were new to area. The second we walked in we were told to go wait outside, I then gave her number to be put on waiting list, party of 11. Young girl assumed I didn't know how a waiting list worked and proceeded to explain that I would have to wait until other parties were seated first. We all waited outside for 35-40 mins, then when we found out they were gonna seat us the owner/"manager" putting 11 people at three separate tables and said we had to sit with people that were gonna be on same ticket to not make it confusing or hard for THEM. We had a couple of people that were paying separately, not a big deal ever anywhere we've been. Not an uncommon thing. So we were not only treated like we were in the way/not welcomed, then we were told we can't sit where we wanted. THEN, he said, "Look, were trying to help yall, but yall are making it difficult and hard". In front of the whole restaurant. We left immediately after that rude and unprofessional comment. My advice is don't go if you have a party of 5 or more and not paying on one check. We took our money elsewhere and so glad we left.
Daddy's Seafood and Cajun Kitchen had no issues with separate checks and were treated so good, food and drinks...
