What a great asset to Port St Joe! The smell actually drew us in. We were actually heading to another restaurant next door, and the smell coming from this place convinced us to change our plans! I'm so glad we did! From the friendly greeting as soon as we walked in, to being talked to/treated just like we were family-long time customers. The food is excellent! The baked potato was huge. The photo doesn't accurately show how big it is. I got the loaded one with chicken. Enough toppings so that each bite had something besides plain potato. Even enough left to bring home and have lunch the next day! The husband had the combo plate and said everything was great. He "wasn't disappointed" in changing the original place to eat. He said we would definitely be back, and he would order the same thing with 3 other meats to try it all out. We got a serving of banana pudding to go and had it later that evening. Delicious!

I know this restaurant has really good reviews which is why I ordered from them but my experience wasn’t the best. I ordered and paid online and when I arrived to pick up the order the girl working at the bar rudely insisted they hadn’t received any online orders. I tried to show her the receipt/confirmation but she refused to even look at it. She finally figured things out and I got my order and took it home. The food was ok but I was disappointed with the smoked macaroni and cheese. The portion was extremely small for costing $4.49 and it tasted like it just had some liquid smoke in it. I honestly imagined that since they make bbq that maybe it would’ve been made with smoked cheddar but no. I hate to leave a negative review but this was my experience.

Great environment with live music. Polite, friendly and quick service! My husband had the Dine-in 2 Meat/2 Sides with cole slaw and Mac-n- cheese which were both good. Brisket was good. Pulled chicken was dry and not hot. Cost $25 - see photo. I had the Brisket sandwich on Texas toast with Mac-n-cheese. Brisket had lots of fat. Taste was good and side was good. I didn’t take a photo because the presentation was lacking due to all the empty space on the plate served on. It was enough food to be satisfied but not stuffed. Just shocked when I saw the plate. Cost $18. Can beer cost $4, which is norm. Suggestion: watch the amount of fat on brisket sandwich and change size of dish sandwich plates are served on. Will try again.

As a barbecue enthusiast, it's not everyday that a dining experience leaves a lasting impression - but my recent lunch at Sparks Bar-B-Cue & Brew in downtown Port St. Joe is an experience I'm itching to share. This newly minted barbecue joint is a sparkling addition to the downtown scene, serving a tantalizing selection of authentic Texas-style BBQ that speaks straight to the soul of a true meat lover.

The first impression Sparks offers is its enticing, smoky aroma that wafts through the downtown air, pulling you in like a moth to a flame. Once inside, you'll find yourself sitting either at a cozy table or perched comfortably at their welcoming bar, eager for the culinary journey you are about to undertake.

The menu at Sparks serves up a generous spread of slow-smoked delicacies. I opted for the brisket and ribs combo, a meaty feast that sings with a perfect harmony of smoky goodness and mouth-watering tenderness. Every bite of the brisket was an absolute joy, with its melt-in-your-mouth texture and deep, smoky flavors. The ribs, similarly, were nothing short of a masterpiece - juicy, fall-off-the-bone, and seasoned to perfection.

What's BBQ without some stellar sides, right? The coleslaw was crisp and refreshing, with a zesty tang that cut through the richness of the meats, creating a perfect balance. As for the Mac n' cheese - it was a creamy, cheesy, soul-warming delight that I'd happily return for on its own!

Adding to the Sparks experience is their impressive selection of craft beers - the perfect partner for your barbecue feast. Each beer offers its own unique character and complexity, and there's something to please every palate.

What truly sets Sparks apart, though, is the warm hospitality of the people behind it. I had the pleasure of chatting with Sara, the owner, who infuses her passion for BBQ into every aspect of Sparks. Her friendly demeanor and genuine interest in providing an outstanding dining experience gives Sparks that "welcome home" feeling that keeps patrons coming back for more.

In conclusion, Sparks Bar-B-Cue & Brew is a treasure trove of taste sensations that's taking Port St. Joe's food scene by storm. It's a place where the smoky, meaty majesty of Texas-style BBQ is honored and celebrated with every dish served. Whether you're a barbecue connoisseur or simply someone who appreciates a good meal, Sparks promises an unforgettable dining experience. I, for one, will definitely be coming back...

Walk down Reid Avenue in Port St. Joe on any given afternoon, and you’ll know exactly when Sparks Bar-B-Que & Brew is open—your nose will tell you before your eyes do. The unmistakable smell of slow-smoked meats drifts down the street, sneaking into your car windows, office doors, and cravings. Even if you weren’t hungry before, one whiff of that hickory-kissed air will have you rerouting your day straight to Sparks. Once inside, the challenge begins: what do you even order when everything looks good?

Let’s start with the BBQ Nachos—though “nachos” doesn’t quite capture what you’re in for. These aren’t just a snack; they’re a full-on barbecue event stacked on tortilla chips. Choose pork, chicken, or brisket, and then watch them pile on the melted cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, green onions, and a generous drizzle of barbecue sauce. It’s the kind of messy, savory, glorious plate that makes you want to share… but probably won’t.

But let’s say you're indecisive. (Raises hand.) Sparks has your back with their Combo Platter, letting you sample pork, chicken, and sausage all on one glorious tray. And trust me, choosing just one meat is practically impossible here—so this combo platter is a lifesaver.

If you’re craving a classic, don’t skip the Rib Plate. Whether you order a 3-rib plate, half slab, or go all in with the full slab (do it), they come out fall-off-the-bone tender, with just the right balance of char, smoke, and tangy sauce. The Rib Plate also includes two sides and a slice of Texas toast—because carbs are love, carbs are life.

And don’t get me started on the brisket. Actually, scratch that—I must get started on the brisket. It’s rich, juicy, and somehow both tender and smoky without being overwhelming. One bite in, and your eyes will close involuntarily. It's just that good.

Looking for something a little less heavy? Their sandwiches and wraps may be lighter in portion, but not in flavor. They’re stacked, sauced, and satisfying—perfect for a quick lunch that still hits all the right notes.

Wash it down with a local brew on tap, and boom—your taste buds just got a standing ovation

So next time you’re anywhere near Reid Street, let your nose lead the way. Sparks Bar-B-Que & Brew isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a full-on experience.

Come hungry. Leave full....

Sparks Bar-B-Que & Brew A Feast for...Someone Who Likes Reheated Leftovers?

For the adventurous diner seeking a unique culinary experience, Sparks Bar-B-Que & Brew might just be the ticket. Here, you'll find a menu boasting classic comfort food, but with a twist – a twist that some might describe as, well, unexpected.

The slow-cooked brisket, for instance, offered a textural adventure unlike any other. Imagine biting into a piece of meat that possessed the delightful elasticity of a rubber band – a true testament to, perhaps, a slightly overenthusiastic cooking time.

The chicken, on the other hand, delivered a boldness of flavor that some might find a tad overwhelming. The generous application of salt ensured a truly memorable experience for your taste buds – a memory that might linger long after your visit.

And then there's the baked potato. Now, a perfectly baked potato is a thing of beauty – fluffy on the inside, with a crisp skin. Sparks Bar-B-Que & Brew's rendition, however, leaned more towards the "previously baked and reheated to an underwhelming temperature" end of the spectrum.

Look, for those seeking a home-style meal with all the expected textures and flavors, Sparks Bar-B-Que & Brew might not be the first choice. But for those who enjoy a bit of mystery on their plate, a culinary journey into the unexpected, then this restaurant might just be the perfect fit. Just be sure to pack your adventurous spirit – and remember to drink plenty of water to extinguish the more...
