This restaurant has been converted to be take out only. There is a plexiglass partition that separates staff from customers which is a little hard to understand questions through, but I appreciate the safety measure. They have a few chairs outside for you to sit while you wait for your order, which was nice. I went at about 2pm on a Friday and found no line. I ordered the spare ribs lunch combo and was asked if I wanted boneless or with bone (the plexiglass made me ask “what?” a couple times before connected and got the boneless spare ribs rung in. That comes with rice (I got fried rice) and soup (I got wonton soup.) It was unclear if it came with an egg roll based on other reviews or the menu (dinner plates do but no soup, lunch doesn’t mention egg rolls.) So I specifically asked for one and also ordered a krab Rangoon appetizer. We passed credit card and receipt through a little drawer in the partition (I was shown itemized receipt briefly against the glass but only received a copy to sign and guest copy, no big deal but this is part of why I still don’t know if the egg roll was included. 😂🤷♀️) I was told it would be ten minutes and I sat down outside to wait. Another customer ordered after me and was told five minutes (very simple order.) They got their food and then mine was called, MAYBE I waited 5 minutes but I was already chowing down and backing out of my parking spot before my 10 minute timer went off.
The food; Spare ribs - I actually have never ordered this before so I can’t compare it, but they hit the spot. Large portion, very tasty. A few fatty spots but cooked so I was not at all tempted to try to eat around that. Fried rice - very standard version, nothing spectacular. Probably less greasy than a Panda Express style, but not main course worthy like some sit down spots. Egg roll - again pretty standard. Cooked nicely, good complement to the meal, not one I would seek out for a craving but good. Krab Rangoon - quite good actually. The first few were sooo hot still I was puffing air through it, but so crispy and the filling is just a little sweet you don’t really need a sauce. They got a little chewy as they cooled but that didn’t slow me down. Would definitely order again.
Overall impression: very good staple, pretty consistent across my dishes, would be happy to try other menu items in the future. And you really couldn’t beat the wait time for a late lunch, definitely faster than the drive through across the street and far more satisfying. I have enough left overs for another...
Read moreThis is a difficult review to write. The food is fantastic. We've eaten food from Sky Dragon more times than I could count. Before covid we often ate in the restaurant. Service and food always, always very good. However, one of the ladies who answers the phone for take-out orders (that's all they do at the moment) is literally the rudest, most impatient person I have ever encountered at a business. I believe she is also the owner. If you're familiar with the Seinfeld "Soup Nzi" episode, she is 100% the same character. If you call to order and she answers....be prepared or get hung up on! Seriously, she'll give you 20 seconds tops and if you hesitate or ask too many questions... NO FOOD FOR YOU - CLICK!! Last night my wife called to order and failed to mention that she wanted her meal as a combo dinner until the end. The lady went ballistic and snapped "you tell me combo at beginning next time" and HUNG UP on her!!! You can't make this stuff up. When we used to dine inside, we'd hear her angrily tell people on the phone, who were obviously asking questions about the menu, "you call back when ready!" CLICK. Yep she hung up on them. To be honest my wife and I used to chuckle a little while we listened to her behind the counter. The "Soup Nzi" Seinfeld episode is one of our favorites so we couldn't help find it a little funny. Well, it's not so funny when you're hungry and she hangs up on you. It seems the owners read these reviews since I have seen them respond to some of them. If you're reading this one, PLEASE, PLEASE try to be a little nicer and more patient with your customers before you run them off. Your food is really good and we'd like to keep spending our money at your place but seriously - hang up on us again and we're done. There are other good Chinese food places in the area so we have choices. As we have dined many times inside, I know your phone rings non-stop. You're busy, I get that. But being friendly doesn't take any longer than being super rude. And by the way, the other lady who answers your phone is awesome! She handles the same task with professionalism and is always accurate when she takes our order. I am honestly relieved when she answers the phone. If you can't be nicer perhaps let her do all the phone work. Oh yeah, Ms. owner, please watch the "Soup N*zi" Seinfeld episode. I think you might...
Read moreI'm honestly surprised this place even has so many positive reviews. This place makes the experience of ordering a take out meal rather unpleasant. First off, good luck even getting through to place your order by phone. I got their voicemail about five times, was put on hold three times, and hung up on while on hold two of those times. Finally, I was able to place the order, but that was just the beginning. I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes, so we arrived 10 minutes later to pick up our food. The woman working at the front is incredibly rude and lacks any ounce of customer service. She basically just yells at you through the plexiglass and then acts like she can't hear you, so you're forced to yell back. After going through this lovely process, we paid and then were told the food was not ready. No instructions on what to do next, so we just waited outside (where at this point there's a line of confused people because there is really no system at all here). We waited another 10 minutes, so now it's been 20 total, and no mention of our order number, so we go back in to check and sure enough, it's just sitting there on the counter. I guess we were supposed to know it was ready through telepathy. As we were getting the order, we asked for chopsticks and she hastily threw in one set as if we had asked for the biggest favor in the world. We clearly had ordered two entrees, so we requested another set, and she told us we "hadn't ordered them." Um, I'm sorry, what? Since when are you supposed to order chopsticks over the phone? So we left with our two meals, one set of chopsticks, and a bad taste in our mouths. To be fair, the food is good. But is it worth this hassle and being treated this way? Probably not. Honestly, the owners should be mortified by this behavior. I'll give my business to other restaurants in the area that know how to treat...
