We were passing through port Townsend on our way to Fort Warden and decided to stop for dinner. We looked up reviews and got excited to try Honazono and I have to say I'm very disappointed. Not about their food but because the service was so poor. We waited for 10 minutes and the please wait to be seated sign at the front door to no avail. I entered the restaurant to the counter and requested a table. They said it wouldn't be long and to wait at the door. It didn't take long but there was also another family who was waiting behind us. We got seated shortly before them and I noticed that they were created and served water and menus long before our server came with no smile or personality. I don't even think I ever remember hearing her speak. We had a two year old with us and at this point just trying to eat and get out. We ordered appetizers, sake and soup. We saw a waitress walking around with what looked like our appetizer to every table except ours. We tried to get her attention with no success and she returned to the kitchen for a few minutes and then back out with the same appetizer which we hailed her down. Needless to say, our appetizer was cold. Everyone else enjoyed their soup and my sushi rolls came long after everyone else's meals. We had to ask for napkins and refill on our waters. There was no apology for the service or acknowledgement that we weren't the happiest of customers. I had to request our check by the older woman who seemed like she was working really hard and trying to pick up the slack from the younger girl who seemed like she was in lala land. Once I received my check the younger girl came by and asked very short "you got your check?" Yes I did! I waited for someone to come retrieve my card and once again gave up and walked to the counter to pay myself as my husband rushed our antsy two year old out the door. So long story short no greeting, no smile and no personality. Service alone will keep me from...

Save your self the long wait for poor food and hidden charges. I appreciate that Hanazono is restricting its business to "ToGo" only, but they really should disclose to you that they intend to nickel and dime you for every bag, container and lid they will pack your to-go food in. It is not a lot of money, granted, $0.25 here, $0.25 there...but it adds up and the point is they don't tell you in advance. AND, since the only option is To-Go, they ought to just bump the price to cover all these charges anyway. Worst part of it all, when you do get the food in your extra charge container, after a very long wait even on a mid-day order when no one else seems to be ordering or picking up, it isn't very good food. We ate here once pre-pandemic in the restaurant..it was quite good. We tried again in 2021 and the food was very poor, but they weren't charging for every piece of paper or plastic. So now again in February '22 we thought we'd give it one more shot, and got $40 worth of food plus $1.50 worth of containers plus an 8 cent paper bag. The food was so poor and bland and overly salted that it wasn't worth the $1.58 of packaging...just plain bad. There are great Thai places a few blocks away, plus a decent Vietnamese...if you want Asian food in PT, skip this place and save the poor service, add ons and grumpy...

Although we asked for vegetarian dishes at the counter, the soba noodles with vegetables and tofu and the udon noodles with vegetables and tofu, we were given the correct soba noodles dish with vegetables and tofu, a chicken udon noodle dish, and additionally a sushi dish, which we did not order. We had also indicated that we wanted to eat outside at the table and chairs on the sidewalk at the time of the order. We waited outside for the order and after about 20 to 25 minutes, we were told we couldn't be served outside and they would have to prepare our orders to go. After another 5 minutes we were given our food in "to go" containers and then we discovered the wrong order items. Upon pointing out the discrepancy of what we ordered and what we received, we were told that they doubted that we had actually ordered vegetarian dishes at all because the dishes we claimed to have ordered were not vegetarian because they have fish sauce in them. After asking what the solution to the problem was, they suggested a stir fry rice noodle with vegetable dish, which is vegetarian. We asked them to prepare the vegetarian dishes and ate them on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. They were ok but a...

Smaller place, nice inside, showed up at around 7:30 pm on a Wed night only a table of 4 and 2 already there...no other tables showed up as we were waiting. Our waitress sat us, brought us menus and room temp water with no ice and took way to long to come back and take our order. We ordered the gyoza, udon noodles with chicken and a Hanazono roll. Sat with empty water glasses the half hr we waited for our food. Got our appetizer the same time as our entree. The gyoza was bland, under cooked, oily and hard to eat. The sauce was good. The udon was good but salty. The sushi roll was very good. The lack of service and the wait time made me not want to go back.

This place is super busy, we arrived at 5:20 seated and ordered at 5:40. Go finally got served part of our meal at 6:15. The rest came at 6:35 . Long wait in a small restaurant. Waiting list ,you sign in at the door. They cook one meal at a time... literally. That’s good but really scattered serving. One family of 7 waited two hours for their last person to get dinner order served. Anyway the food is pretty good and pleasant servers. My bill. For a family of four totaled $70.00 ! That’s great bargain with four full meals. Good sushi and noodles. Located next the the famous Rose movie Theatre .

Some of the very best food in town and very attentive servers. The food is lovingly prepared with many local ingredients and artfully plated. Soup proportions are abundant and salads are crisp and fresh. It can be hard to hear soft spoken dinner partners but the ambient noise is happy, if a little loud. The bento special is always wonderful and the tempura selections are unique, such as lotus root and local seasonal mushrooms or thinly sliced eggplant. I highly recommend this restaurant.
