Edit part 2: The owner edited her reply twice, so I've lowered my rating and included screenshots of her inappropriate replies to my initial review.
Edit: the owners reply to my review proves my point. I realize stores don't carry the same products, and that's part of what my review was for: to point out the lack of variety. This may help someone who was planning a long drive to this store think twice before making such a trip. I had a wonderful day yesterday, actually. The only low point of my day was being treated the way we were by you in your store. My husband noticed it too, so with our shared experience, I decided to leave the review. Good luck with that attitude. You'll never improve when you cannot receive criticism, which is what Google reviews are for.
They used to have a larger selection of bicone beads and fire polished, but now they carry even less of both and overall, not a wide range of colors in the store overall. When I came here a couple years ago, they were so upset Swarovski was "discontinuing" their craft line. Well, they didnt, and you can still become a Swarovski partner, and Fire Mountain still carries the line, even the new styles and colors. What happened to this bead store that they couldnt continue on with the trends??
I will say they have some amazing stainless steel jump rings, however, the lack of stars in this review isnt even mostly because of the lack of variety. It's because the owner seemed to be too important to talk to us for whatever reason. Will never come to this store again, and I will always point people in the area to R&T in Sequim, who have a much better selection, or just order online from Fire Mountain.
This was a wasted trip. Goodluck to the owner. I hope the inflated ego is fulfilling her since kindness is clearly not. Please spare me a response to this review because whatever it is will not...
Read moreWe were having a lovely time in Port Townsend, in fact, it was our favorite port of call until we had two negative experiences, the first being this shop and hearing how horrible cruise patrons are. We did not "eavesdrop". We could not help but hear the shop owner bash us as she openly spoke across the counter to another patron. We went into this shop for two reasons: one they have heart ornaments hanging and we purchase one annually as a family tradition and two we do craft and make items with beads and thought it would be nice to perhaps purchase some we would not normally have available. Just own it....you spoke openly, loudly about how awful cruise patrons are and you were overheard by said patron. Deflection is gross. We all "make mistakes" and growth comes from recognizing, owning and adjusting. We gave 2 stars instead of 1 because you were very informative and nice while speaking with us directly, however you made it perfectly clear you do not care for cruise tourists. AND because of that you lost a sale with us. I only make a habit of leaving reviews when experiences are really good or really bad. Your response to my original review makes my point.
Lady who runs the shop spend several minutes telling another customer how horrible the cruise ship customers were...how they did not buy anything, they did not "even use the bathroom" and they did nothing. Then she noticed myself and my daughter, with our cruise ship badges and was very kind to us. Not sure what someone on vacation would buy beads to make projects BUT after hearing how horrible she felt about the cruise patrons, we just wanted to leave the entire town. Did not feel welcomed in Port Townsend and would not...
Read moreI have been in the yarn store several times and always had a good experience. I recently tried my hand at beading and remembering the bead shop made a trip to Port Townsend specifically to go to this shop. I was wearing a Gator, approved state mandated face covering. At the entrance to the building a sign is posted requiring all customers to wear what they felt was an appropriate face covering. Fortunately for me, my husband had a cloth face covering in his pocket and let me use it. So I entered the shop, but felt uncomfortable with the attitude. Since this is the largest bead specialty shop that I know of I hoped to get some guidance from a more experienced person. Unfortunately there was 1 salesperson and the entire time I was in the shop she was either on the phone or talking to a trade person. I was in the store for maybe 5 minutes and she was busy the entire time I was in the bead shop without helping 1 person. I finally left, I'll just buy on line. I will say this is a lovely shop with a huge selection. If you know what you're doing, this is definitely a go to place. Apparently you didn't read my review., I didn't say I was unhappy with your mask policy, I was uncomfortable with the attitude. I guess if you can't take any criticism there is very little room for improvement. We are all aware of Covid19 and I completely understand the stress this puts on a business. How bout " I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you and I hope I can make your next shopping...
