Room 25 was one of two on the lower floor for guests with pet. It was loud at night 9ish for awhile when as it backs up to the wind garden- then it’s loud hearing the clean up. Also, there is a window in your living room part of the room that hits the mirror in the bedroom and there was bright orange light that hit the mirror and woke me up- after a long while it finally was off. The bed sheets are soft and nice - the bed seemed comfy at first , but it was too soft - I tossed and turned. Got up in the AM to go to my car in their parking lot. Paid $10 only to find sap all over my car. A warning would have been nice for the few spots - I explained what happened to the GM- she wanted to make it right - I said at least credit my parking and take $ off for the car wash I need to go to now. She did then she said she took the $40 pet fee off which I said thanks, but my dog is a service dog and legally you can’t charge for that- she said they still do -then got a little unhinged and said do you want me to take more off your bill?!?! I said I’m just informing you that you can’t charge for service animals and reminded her I wasn’t asking for any freebies. She said she’d comp me a night in the future..doubtful I’ll take her up on it- also not to mention there was younger employee in the main room that gave me facial attitude after pointing these things out- Not impressed overall - I am very well traveled and don’t think $299 a night + $40 a night for your service animal ( which I may add on the website says $25 for pets at this hotel is some great hip thing. I stay in hip boutique hotels and the Four Seasons hotels and places in between- in fairness there wine garden and live music was lovely. I wouldn’t say don’t stay here, but I would say ask a lot of...
Read moreCouldn’t imagine a more magical place to get married. After searching for quite a while for a wedding venue that would be accessible for out-of-towners, would have an outdoor option (and flexibility), and would be beautiful, we were lucky enough to find the Bishop Hotel. We stayed at the hotel for the weekend a few times and fell in love with it more and more every time. We had our ~70 person wedding ceremony and reception in Bishop’s Garden, and there was plenty of space for both events to feel completely separate and cozy enough that our dance floor could feel full! The location ended up being even more of a benefit because we were able to slip away and take photos in Chetzemoka Park! We were also able to host a brunch in the Garden for all of the guests afterward, and the food and drink from the Bishop were absolutely incredible! They went above and beyond to make every event welcoming, elegant, and seamless!
Jessica, Eric, and Rosetta were so amazing to work with—from our first visit, to walking us through the tasting, to accommodating last-minute changes. They helped us include everything we dreamed of, made brilliant recommendations, helped work around all of our many dietary restrictions, and consistently made the experience of planning fun and joyful.
It felt so nice to be able to stay at the hotel with friends and family and get ready in such a charming place. Many of our guests mentioned how gorgeous and fairytale-like the venue felt. We’ll be forever grateful to have been able to get married here and to be able to return to such a beautiful place to relive the memories!

Read moreUpon check-in, nothing was explained to me. This is an old Victorian hotel, so you’re likely going to need to explain things. I didn’t know how to turn on the heat… and for the price I paid, I would expect something more than a portable heater. The bathroom is very dated and could use some modernizing. The walls are very thin, so I could hear people come and go and the housekeeper start quite early. I could also hear people go up and down the stairs all day and night, which at times really annoyed my dog, but it’s an old hotel, so just keep it in mind.
I was also notified by the hotel that my dog was being loud. This was at 2 p.m. during the day, and it’s a dog friendly hotel. I know my dog has separation anxiety for the first 1-2 minutes as I leave, so to be told that he’s loud really threw me through a loop. When I received this update, I was in a business meeting. Imagine how that affects you, but regardless, I appreciated being notified. Later, they dismissed it all because he was no longer loud.
This hotel is way overpriced for what you get. While the historic features are notable, it’s not worth it. The pictures online make it seem a whole lot better than it really is.
Management: Consider removing the window AC units when the season changes. It’s incredibly cold in the hotel, and a portable heater can only do so much. Also, get better at communication upon check in. I wasn’t aware of WiFi, fog fees and that I’d have to pay for parking. You need to tell your guests this, don’t nickel and dime us as we check out.
It’s a cute hotel, but sadly my experience didn’t match the...
