Delightfully charming and quirky. A B&B in an old house on the hill with a beautiful view and unique and comfortable accommodations. We stayed two nights in the Drawing Room in summer 2025. This is a large room with a four poster king bed. The mattress is very comfortable. The sheets and pillows are nice quality. There is some older furniture in the room that go along with the air of the house. There is a large slipper tub in the room. Note that it is in the room and not in the bathroom. The toilet is in a tiny closet and there is a small pedestal sink in the room as well. The common areas of the house are gorgeous. This is a historic home, so don’t expect things like perfectly finished floors and modern furniture. Also, don’t let the house’s exterior need of a paint job discourage you, inside is lovely and really nicely maintained.
Breakfast was hearty and delicious. The location is great. It’s on a corner lot in uptown Port Townsend. You can walk to the waterfront, but it is a steep hill. If walking down a big set of stairs to the waterfront is a problem don’t worry there’s tons of parking down there. You can walk around uptown where there are groceries and cafés and galleries and a farmers market on Saturday in the summer.
Port Townsend is friendly, artsy and has great food. In the summer the weather tends to be delightfully cool. The breeze picked up in the evening and we were glad to have some layers to put on.
We enjoyed our stay at House and in Port Townsend and we will be back!!...

The sweetest family owns this rich pice of Port Townsend history. They couldn’t be more welcoming and generous. They have plenty of history to share about their home and community. They are are lovely hosts and stewards of this landmark and take complete pride in their service.
Each room is elegant and extremely comfortable. Everything you could want! How about a bathtub in the bedroom, a cozy robe, a crackling fireplace to come home to, coffee, tea and a daily voucher to the best bakery in town! The location and views are incredible.
I highly recommend staying at the Starrett House! Feel good about supporting a local family and the community they care so much about!
I have stayed at the Starrett House many times and love it so much. I have even had friends stay there as well! Always a pleasure and...
Read moreI was booked to stay here with my wife and infant daughter. They informed me the day before check in that children 13 and under are not allowed. This is not listed anywhere on their website, but they offered to refund us due to the miscommunication. It’s been a month and no refund has been issued. Their phone number is disconnected and their emails just say that their front desk will be reaching out to me. I understand the child policy but it needs to be stated on your website and I expect better customer service. Really bad experience for us.
UPDATE - I was refunded and it looks like child policy verbiage was added to the website, changing from 1 star to 4 stars! Thank you for the...
