I had a cheeseburger with fries and a milkshake. The milkshake was fantastic. I ordered a chocolate peanut butter shake with marshmallow (not on the menu but they free-styled it for me). It also came with a refill tin that filled up the long glass the shake came in. And it had lots of peanut butter too. The burger was probably the worst part of the meal honestly. It was a little burned and crispy, not my kind of burger. I like smash burgers but this was overdone. The fries were alright. I do love diners and this is an old school diner. I wish they had more nostalgia in there but overall, it was nice. The shake is well worth the trip and price.

Awesome atmosphere, thoroughly satisfying burgers (that apparently require their own spatula to be prepared properly, which makes a lot of sense in hindsight), and friendly yet professional staff. By the way, thanks again Brooklyn, the raspberry lemonade was no joke the perfect drink to go with your 3-alarm. re: Brookyln Cipher {base 26} 11.4.12.12.4_10.13.14.22_8.5_24.14.20_ 22.0.13.19_19.14_18.19.14.15_1.24_19.7.4_ 1.4.0.2.7_14.17_2.0.19.2.7_0_12.14.21.8.4_ 18.14.12.4.19.8.12.4 {reverse base 26} DBC.EFA.BBGH ;) 😁

We ate here for lunch after reading that the burgers here were the best in Indiana. The burgers lived up to the hype and the service we received was top notch. We asked the young lady at the counter to cut our 2 burgers in half so we could share. She not only had the burgers cut in half, but she also put 1/2 of each burger in each of our to go containers so we would not have to split them up later. We will definitely come back here again if we ever find ourselves in the area.

Atmosphere was great with Diner feel and blues music playing I was ready for a great experience. Food with mediocre it did have a hair in it oh, but even that I could have gotten past has nothing in life is perfect. I placed an order for a friend who was joining me at the last minute and the food arrived quickly once he got there however the server Julie, literally tossed the plate in front of him and turned and walked away without a word and never asked if he wanted anything to drink. Coincidence that he is black? I don't think so because when I approached her as she walked to a table to look at a basket of soaps that people had and asked her to get him a t she did not even turn to look at me she just continue talking to the people about the soap they were selling. I then went up front and she came up there and gave me a glare and I said just chill it's fine and she said no you just chill! And then she said and I quote, what do you want? I said, a different server please, and a manager before we leave. No one came to speak to us about the incident. We paid and left. I know I was not treated badly until my friend came to sit with me. Make your own assumptions. I won't...

I was really excited to try Schoop's for the first time. The food was just okay. We liked the flavor of the burgers, but the service was poor. The whole place just seemed like it was run by teenagers and needs to be managed better. I went inside and bought a milkshake and a few burgers to-go. We went on the later side, so it didn't seem like there was a huge dinner rush happening. The bill ended up being over $60... Definitely too pricey. After I finished paying, the young girl at the front said "oh yeah it'll be like 30+ minutes". This was surprising - I definitely wasn't expecting that long of a wait, and I felt she should have communicated that information before I finished paying. But nonetheless, we sat down and waited. Despite telling me the food would take 30+ minutes, I noticed an employee made the milkshake right away and just left it sitting behind the counter, melting, waiting for our food. Pretty silly to make the shake first, and even sillier to leave it out without even coming over a few feet to hand it to us. Overall the food and experience wasn't worth the money (I literally got like 10 fries with my burger). We definitely won't...

Not impressed at all. I have been a big Schoop's fan for a long time. The day I tried the Portage location when I walked in there was plenty of employees around but no one said a word to me and I had to ask about where to sit. I sat at the counter and was the only customer sitting there. They weren't that busy. I ordered a double hamburger with everything on it and fries and a drink. It came in reasonable amount of time but there was no ketchup, mustard or mayo on the burger and I had to grab someone to ask for it. The burger tasted dry. No one checked back on my meal and I had to ask for a refill on my drink. During my entire time there was always several workers at the cash register visiting and laughing. It eventually became annoying. I had to ask for my bill and when I went up to pay I waited a short time and on one said a word to me and so I asked if I could pay. I paid the bill and left a 15% tip which was probably too much. No thank you or anything. Very poor experience. I wont go back. The Michigan City location is a much better Schoops and I will continue to go there...
