04/06/19: 3.0 out of 5 - My Saturday Run Group and I came here here after our morning run. We tend to go out to somewhere for brunch after each of our morning runs.
We've been wanting to try this place for some time, but the place usually has no seating available for the numbers we have in the group. We got lucky!
Going into the place it's colorful clean, and has a nice look. It's counter service. So, you go in and place your order, you get a number, and the staff will bring the food out to you.
The breakfast sandwiches is on sourdough but there is a gluten-free option for $1.50 more. Strange to upcharge more for a difference in bread choice. Regardless, the prices seem fair for the sandwiches itself.
I had the Egg Zeppelin, which is two fried eggs, two sausage patties, two slices of Tillamook Cheddar with an Aardvark Aioli. It was tasty, but the eggs was runny and and gets messy. It can be a good or bad thing depending on what kind of eater your are. So, just a heads up.
I wanted to give Fried Egg I'm In Love 4.5 out 5 stars. The food was tasty, the establishment seemed clean and the staff are nice, but there was one thing I am a stickler on. Someone had their dog at the table next to us. Not a Service Dog but their pet.
I get that people love their dog and all, but this an eating establishment. The dog was shaking itself like as if it was wet, but inside. I'm not a fan of potential pet dander getting in my food or coffee. If there is ventilation circulating the air inside with a pet inside, then it is a very big possibility. That's just how I see it. Besides, there is a law preventing people from bringing their pets into an eating establishment in Oregon.
I will eventually give this place another try as it could possibly a one off day, but if you are in the area do try it once and decide for...
Read moreMy favorite egg sandwich place of all time, and favorite place to grab breakfast in all of Portland!! I cannot emphasize how much I like the food here. Long wait, but the food is with your time! Fried egg I'm in love will be the first thing that I eat when I visit Portland again.
Food I have tried the yolko ono, egg zeppelin, rito sauve burrito, and hash brown and they are all super super amazing! My favorite was the egg zeppelin though.
On the sandwiches the bread is perfectly toasted, crunchy, but not hard, and just absorbs all the sauces. The eggs are perfectly cooked with the right amount of runniness. The meats are so flavorful and juicy and tasty. And if your sandwich has cheese then it makes it even better. Make sure to get the aardvark aioli as well you won't regret it!
My girlfriend got the burrito so I just had a bite of it, but it was delicious as well. There is a good amount of filling and would be perfect for breakfast.
The hash brown was one of the best I've ever had.
Atmosphere A casual spot where you are lucky if you get seating. This place is packed in the weekends. Be prepared to take your food home and eat it. Inviting atmosphere and your mouth will start watering when you smell the food.
Pricing Great prices for the quality and taste of the food. I've had place that have more expensive breakfast sandwiches but don't taste nearly as good. If you get the add-ons, it can add up though.
Service Staff was nice and friendly, but they are definitely busy. You go up to the window to order food, go up and pick up your food, and bus your own table.
Other Order your food ONLINE BEFORE you go to the restaurant. When I went on a Saturday morning at 10:30am, it was almost a 1.5 hour wait. I went again on a Monday morning at about 9:45am and it was still a 30...
Read moreMy friend chose this place. Not me. Food was over all bland and over priced. If you choose to go here or you're like me and forced to eat here, I would avoid the eggs and Spud Mud.
I got the Bowling in the Deep. I asked for my eggs to be over easy and the person taking my order asked "You want them a little runny?" To which I said "I want them a lot runny."
What I got was a plate, not a bowl with everything spread out. My eggs were over medium at best. I'm not geriatric nor do I have an immune problem so there's no reason punishment my mouth with over cooked eggs. I had to go looking for salt (because that was clearly not used in the cooking process) and even that wasn't enough to save the eggs. I ended up moving my eggs to my friends plate as I refuse to have inedible food on my plate.
I was glad the Spud Mud was served in a little cup and not actually contaminating my what was edible on my plate. I could taste ketchup, maybe mustard, and then something ghastly and vinegary. Not sure if that was supposed make up for the not using salt while over cooking my eggs but no thanks. I moved this to my friend's plate as well as I refuse to have inedible food on my plate.
That bacon tasted like bacon, not the best but not the worst. The hash brown was small considering how much the overall plate (I will not call it bowl when it is not a bowl) costs but it tasted like a hash brown, again not the best but not the worst. I'm not a fan of sour dough, gave that to my friend as well.
So I basically spent $12 on a toddler sized hash brown and...
