Read about my real-life experience review. Many reviews for small businesses come from employees and families and friends of the businesses. I made a special trip with my friends to try this spot out. The pictures look great, and they had several great reviews. But that was not our group's experience. I really wanted to fall in love with this cafe. But there was nothing particularly remarkable about it. Yes, they have incredible looking fresh,Mexican pastries. BUT the food we ordered was disappointing!! The size and the flavor were not what the menu described. The burrito was small! Less than 1 egg and no actual flavor of chorizo and the chorizo empanada was ALL potatoes with a chorizo spice...no meat. COME ON! That's just rude. Despite the rude customer service I wanted to try the FAMOUS MEXICAN MOCHA and NOPE!!! It wasn't Mexican! It was a Raspberry mocha. No spice, no cinnamon, no nutty flavor. There were no sugar free options and the worst part was THEY ONLY HAVE 1 MOCHA TO ORDER. NOPE, NOT MEXICAN, NOT FRIENDLY, CONFUSING MENU, NO WAY!!! NOT...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a yuppie and pretentious cafe with all the hallmarks of a the Portland food service scene. This is the spot for you. At the entry, you’ll find a barista behind the bar with an attitude that screams “I don’t wanna be here, and why are you bothering me?”. Coming into La Perlita was a familiar feeling of not knowing what the different sizes mean at Starbucks. Venti? Grande? Who knows, I must be an idiot! When you eventually suffer through the human interaction at the counter and get your 5 dollar cup of small black coffee - you’re greeted with a delicious sip of fruity yet bitter cup of joe. You’ll enjoy it for about 5 minutes. (Remember, you got the small) And you might be tempted to get a refill, but you shouldn’t. Because ordering that first coffee seemed like it triggered a traumatic response in your barista. Completely ruining their day. Anyways, give this shop a try if you love rolling your beanies up and getting paid six figures for your ability to...
Read moreI love La Perlita and it’s my favorite coffee experience. Hands down. Everyone I introduce to La Perlita loves the vibe and experience. I always get a hot True Mexican with oat milk or Cafe de Olla with oat milk. My dad loves it and says it’s the best he’s ever had. My husband loves the oat cortadito and we always love the seasonal specials. The staff is chill, and we always have a laugh whenever my family comes in. Music is on point and they always got the throwbacks. Their vendor collabs are always a vibe. Axel and the staff provide an authentic experience and are our friends now. My family and I always enjoy catching up together over at La Perlita. 100/10 would recommend. I’m vegan and cheat for their regular pan dulce. They’re that...
