My best friend picked me up from work after he got off of work and I was just getting off of work from the location I was at. We're walking around downtown Portland and we're planning on going to coffee at a place close to where I work. They had just closed so we looked online and stumbled across this one. Looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders like why not, and walked in. They were a few people in there, but it was nice and peaceful they were not yelling or anything they were talking quietly to each other. The plants were beautiful and created a wonderful atmosphere. We ordered our coffees, and the server even informed us of the amount of shots in our beverages just in case we didn't want it that many or we needed more which I thought was very helpful considering we have never been there before. They also gave us the options of dairy or non-dairy milk which I thought was amazing. We sat down at the table and it was peaceful. The coffee was flavorful and wasn't overpowering on anything it was perfectly blended, although for me personally I need to remember for myself to always ask for half sweet so that one is on me. I got a medium ice vanilla latte with an extra shot, and my friend got the caramel macchiato. This is definitely a place I will be returning to next time I am in...
Read moreThis is one of those hidden gem Mom n' Pop shops.
Super random extensive menu with anything and everything including sandwiches, bagels and bubble tea.
Don't expect hand crafted self pickled kind of items. No Milkshake or smoothie from local organic products BUT there are locally baked goods and a great drink selection. You WILL get a friendly smile welcoming you and as a regular they will remember your name. This is a dying breed of establishment that I wish would make a comeback.
Yes I want healthy ingredients in my food but you can still find healthy options here if you take the time to look. I also enjoy their random decorating and crazy menu, the dumb founding amount of pastries available any given day and some endearing language barriers and cultural differences that have led to some bad reviews by impatient folks. This place has limitations but it also has charm and folks who care to give you a great start or end to any day.
Come in, find something you like and come often. This kind of place will actually appreciate your patronage unlike so many Portland snooty joints who seem to care less if you return and more about what you think of their smoke and mirrors. I come here for homework time before school...
