I've had Pleasure Burger twice now, and I unfortunately felt a bit disappointed each time. Both times, I thought the burgers were pretty good, but not mind-blowing, leaving a bit to be desired. For those eager to read more about one person's opinion and taste preferences, here's why:
-Patties: Don't get me wrong, I love a good smash burger! (Love Lo's Burgers and Sureshot!). However, I personally find these burgers "too smashed", and it makes it seem like your burger is mostly bun and not enough meat. -Toppings: Again, not enough toppings in my opinion. I was REALLY looking forward to trying the peanut butter pickle burger, but it was honestly hard to detect either. Apparently there was bacon on the burger too, but I didn't taste this at all (I had to check it was actually there, which isn't something people should have to do to know a topping is there). From what I saw, it looks like the toppings are also too thin to be noticeable. -Flavor: The flavor of the truffle fries, especially the lemony dipping sauce, was delish! However, both burgers I've tried, I didn't find either particularly flavorful, despite trying two of their more "adventurous" burgers. The peanut butter sauce in particular, I personally found a bit bland. -Price: I am happy to pay for a high-quality meal. $12 isn't too much, but it is on the higher end of the scale as far as smash burgers go. Considering I felt there was neither enough meat nor toppings (and of note, still felt hungry afterwards), this certainly feels overpriced when comparing to their competitors.
Overall, I personally don't find Pleasure Burger worth the money and think there are better options elsewhere at this time. That said, I do think they have a lot of potential-- the menu is solid, but would like to see the...
Read moreWas looking for pleasure in Portland. Walked down the road to find Pleasure Burger, newly opened smash burger joint in Portland on Broadway. Walked in to a simple menu, pick one of a handful of options, two different types of waffle fries (currently substituted to tots on my visit) and simple canned drinks. The kitchen gets to quickly assembling your burger and at ten minutes till closing they didn’t seem to mind. I was out the door in a matter of a few minutes, burger and small tots set me back under $20. I opted for the BBQ burger, still hot when I got back to my hotel six blocks away. Big smashed patties hanging over the toasted bun, topped with onion rings and bbq sauce. The jalapeños were buried on the bottom of the bun, and man were they spicy. I love spicy, but they overpowered the burger, so I had to remove most of them. The peppers should offer a bit of flavor but not be overwhelming. Tots are good, got a bit soggy on my walk back, but that’s my fault, bit of the restaurant. Not a fan of the sauce they included with the Parmesan tots. The only faults I found in the restaurant was the smokiness of the grill, the exhaust vent didn’t remove it from the restaurant and sitting in here you will smell of burgers, and the overwhelming amount of peppers on the overall good burger. I found pleasure in this location and it’s a...

Staff: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5
The staff here is fantastic, calling people by their first names and being super friendly and welcoming. It really adds a nice touch to the experience.
Now, let’s talk about the Parmesan fries with their special sauce—absolutely out of this world! I’m a huge fries fan, and these are easily 11/10. I’m not sure what they put in that sauce, but it’s phenomenal. If you’re into fries, do yourself a favor and try these.
What I ordered: • 1 Pleasure Dog • 1 Western BBQ Bacon Burger • 1 Jr. Smash Burger • Large Parmesan fries with chives • 1 Coke • 1 canned water
Total was about $37, which felt reasonable for the quality.
The burgers are amazing—perfect for any smash burger fan. The hot dog was decent, not mind-blowing but solid.
They even offer free water, which is a nice touch. The only con I can think of is the limited seating, but the seats they do have are super comfortable.
Highlights: • Incredible Parmesan fries with sauce • Friendly and attentive staff • Great burgers
