We went last night with friends to celebrate my husband's birthday. We all loved the dishes we chose and shared family style. Our server gave great recommendations and all were spot on. Favorites were the yuca tots, brussel sprouts and the halibut. The avocado mousse for dessert was divine! So smooth and rich. Here's the thing. The food is expensive and the dishes are small. Very small. Our bill for 4 was $200 including 1-2 drinks each. We all had enough to eat but when you are paying close to $30 for, say, sirloin (another delicious choice), the dish should include more than 4 oz of meat. I literally think that's all there was. I also would have liked to have understood the origins of this Mexican spot. The decor is generic- beautiful with nice lighting and lots of dark wood - but not Mexican anyway. It would be nice if the menu contained at least a little about the chef and/or the type of mexican food they are showcasing. We think it's SE Mexican food but that was our best guess based on our travels. Finally, the benches. So uncomfortable. They are super cute but too low for the tables they are matched with. My husband's neck was killing him by the end of dinner. La Neta provides a wonderful dining experience with a few kinks (get it?)...

Guacamole and chips. The chips seem like authentic corn tortilla chips as in corn tortillas cut into triangles and deep fried. Strong corn flavor with the chips, like your eating those corn nut snacks. Nothing too special about the guac, not super flavorful but the portion size was perfect for two and for the bowl of chips provided.
Avocado toast with egg. Egg was over easy on top of a generous spread of avocado or was it guacamole? Whatever it was it had the same consistency of the guacamole. It was nice to see all the options you can add on top of the toast.
Hamburger! This was what i came for and was not disappointed. Lettuce on the side in a mini salad form. Burger dressed with a chipotle sauce that added the perfect amount of spice. Delicious. Will be going back for this burger.
Paloma, seemed like a good brunch drink. Cant comment since i don't drink...
Read moreIt was a Saturday night and didn't want to drive around Portland. Went here while staying in the hotel. There was only one other party in the restaurant, which was surprising given it was a Saturday night.
The server was very friendly but forgot to order some of our food. They also served a terrible drink to our table. The server also acknowledged that it wasn't very good when serving it so I was confused why they even thought to bring it to our table.
Also, got breakfast here in the morning at the coffee shop. It took over 45 minutes for the ricotta toast and acai bowl. I paid for it to be delivered to the room & since it took so long, I ended up coming down and grabbing it and leaving. They said they were waiting for the peaches... the peaches were AWFUL. It was like chomping on rocks. It would've been better without it.... & without waiting that long without telling me it was going to take that long.
2 stars since the salmon was...
