I visited Prince Coffee the other day and absolutely loved it! The space is super cute and surprisingly spacious. There’s an alley with outdoor seating, more seats right by the front door outside, and the inside is huge and cozy. Definitely one of those cafés where you can settle in and stay a while. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. I told them it was my first time, and they were so welcoming. They carry a full menu of drinks and treats, but I came specifically for coffee. I’m a true vanilla girly and always go for a vanilla latte, and let me tell you, I was blown away. They make all their syrups in house every day, and you can taste the love. My vanilla latte had the most beautiful vanilla bean flavor, smooth, creamy, and naturally sweet. None of that artificial stuff, just real, dreamy vanilla vibes. I also tried their second most popular drink, the Stroop Latte, and wow, it was a warm hug in a cup. It's made with their house made caramel and cinnamon syrup, inspired by a stroopwafel, and it seriously tasted like melted dessert. But somehow, not too sweet just balanced and cozy. Perfect for sipping slowly. I went with hot lattes that day so I could really enjoy the flavor notes, and I’m so glad I did. Can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu. Huge thanks to the amazing team for making my first visit feel...

I love their coffee more than anywhere else in the neighborhood, but this is the second time now that I’ve ordered an iced drink and got to work with it only to find that it wasn’t iced, third time overall. I’ve only been in about 15-20 times total. I bring in a reusable mug and it’s opaque, so maybe this is contributing to the issue, but for a $9 latte after tip (they do have more affordable drinks fyi) my expectation is that some care has been taken to get it right.

It doesn’t ruin my day to just add some ice, but when I noticed this a separate time they insisted on throwing the drink out and making it right. I appreciate that level of dedication and high standards, and everybody makes mistakes, but that’s 3 times now and twice that I haven’t caught it until I couldn’t go back to get an iced one. If you charge a high end price and serve high end coffee (and it is really good coffee that I feel is worth the price when it’s right), I don’t feel unreasonable in being pretty bummed after the third time this has happened. Hopefully the hesitancy in my words is apparent because I really love this coffee shop and hate to...

Sunny Sunday late morning. Quiet neighborhood. People out front at the sidewalk tables.

Prince Coffee is the "feels right" indie coffee shop I've been trying to find.

Stepped through the ornate entrance into an airy open space.

Décor: modern industrial with blonde wood Scan tables—two long centered on either side of a rustic beam. Low stools create a minimalist vibe.

Scan shelving curated with elegant products—from 70s-brown glassware and candles to natural wines and small serving trays (like the one they served my quiche on).

White painted-brick walls disappear into raw-wood beams and ceiling. Black window frames and metal wall sconces.

Food and bev: Quiche—excellent with thin, crisp flaky crust, silky custard filling with tender asparagus, and soft potato cubes. Served on a small tray with a fork.

Flat white: bold espresso mousse pulled to the surface for a rich first sip. Served in a palm-sized glass.

Service: Updated Visit 3: Indifferent

Decent specialty coffee with serviceable nibbles. Good space for remote working. I don’t love their barware for hot drinks—my Italiano was way too hot to pick up when served in a very thin handle-less glass (I also ran into this issue when I ordered a cappuccino last time I visited, which felt like too hot to serve that drink anyway). I understand the commitment to a sleek aesthetic, but my drink went from too-hot-to-hold to too-cold-to-finish with a much smaller window than I’d like. Next time I’ll ask for a different cup (either thicker or with a handle) and specify that I want a traditional Italiano with equal parts espresso and water, not the six-ounce Americano they served me. The single origin espresso was just fine when watered down—not very interesting, but balanced. Everything bagel by Bowery was nicely toasted, and I sprung for the extra cream cheese for a couple bucks.
