I'm a software engineer who uses computer 8hrs/day and really care for my eye health. I thought this optical shop is professional because it's attached to a clinic.
However, here is a tragic story that even with insurance I spent $500 on a pair of glasses (or $967 before the insurance) that gives me strong eye stress and without the photochromatic feature that's charged on the bill as attached. Because of the discomfort and eye stress, i have to keep wearing my old glasses. They don't allow refund even i told them right after 2 days of receiving the product without any scratch to the product!
Dishonest service and poor quality control. I ordered lenses with transition function (Photochromatic lenses that changes color under the sunlight). But it came without having the functionality after 2.5 weeks of manufacturing time. It's easy to detect the transition feature so I discovered myself and went back and they promised to fix it. But what about other features? Do they really have those coating we requested?
The staff doesn't know their own products. I asked the staff whether they offer computer lenses. They said it's only glasses with special coating. On their website, it does advertise "computer lenses option" with a bundle price of ~$200. But when you go in store, they will not tell you that cheaper option and redirect you buying a $504 ($967 before insurance) frames as shown in my receipt. The price is ok, but please read my whole article and understand the service i received. If you really want your glasses here, check their website. Don't trust their in-store pricing. They will not help you save money.
Super long wait time. The ordering of lenses took me 19 days. (i ordered in May 2021) The glass store i went in my hometown can make it in 2 days. Online store usually deliver in 2 days as well.
impassionate staff with minimal advice. I have long eye lash which will make the lense greasy after a few hours. My previous optician would warn me against certain frames. But the staff here didn't warn me at all. Now i have unclear and greasy glasses after 2 hours cleaning the glasses.
I feel dizzy wearing the new glasses. The optician tilted the angle to prevent the eye lash touching. And I am feeling a lot of eye stress now compared to wearing my old glasses.
No refund after you order a $500 glasses even they "forgot" to add the feature you asked for and after I expressed mistrust and discomfort with the glasses. But they said "I told you when you picked up the glasses, there is no refund". From my memory, it was never mentioned and it's not written anywhere! There is no transparency in the refund policy and no where to be found on their website. Please have policy written down.
5/31 update: Recieved a call from a staff member. And I got a full refund. Optician from the other optical store did differently in the following: he mentioned that high index can be a bit problematic and recommended trivax lenses(thicker but more precise). Also the optician recommended to redo the exam for a computer lense prescription(it will be much ligher). 3.blue light fitler is covered by the blue light filter. There was no need for the...
Read moreAs a new patient, I was denied treatment TWICE because of an error on the clinic's behalf. The first was a cancellation that I never received by text, call, or email at the NW location. I showed up for my scheduled appointment at 9:00 a.m. on a Saturday, as I work full-time Monday through Friday. The front receptionist lacked customer service skills to handle the situation professionally, but I reluctantly rescheduled. The next available appointment was a month away, and at that time, I could finally make it, as I am a teacher and our school year had just ended. Again, I did not receive any emails, phone calls, or text messages to confirm my appointment. As a new patient who had not yet been seen, I was not informed of the clinic's policies. My appointment was at 3:10; I arrived at 3:19 and checked in at 3:20, only to be told by another unprofessional receptionist that I was past their 10-minute policy and could not be seen that day. I explained the error on the clinic's part the first time, and I had waited another month to be seen. I stressed the importance because I have concerns about my vision. It is impacting my daily life. Her unprofessional nature and lack of compassion and understanding of my situation were some of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever encountered with a customer service receptionist. She did not apologize for the error or do anything to try and make it right. All she did was offer her managers' contact information and asked me to leave. I had to wait 3 months to be seen, and on two occasions, I was rudely dismissed. I would suggest that EyeHealth Northwest revisit its 10-minute cancellation policy, have your staff attend a customer service training course, and do a better job with hiring your front office staff. Life happens, and appointments get backed up, but to have this happen twice? That's on EyeHealth Northwest, not the customer. Your business model does not work. Clearly, this clinic is about profits, not patient care. My daughter was scheduled for an appointment this Saturday. I will be canceling her appointment and taking my...
Read moreI don't have high expectations. I have normal expectations. Those expectations include professional appearances by staff at every stage of a visit to a medical facility, cordial and professional greetings, NOT being left for 30 minutes unattended in a dark room, NOT made to feel like I'm on the belt of an assembly line being shoved through as quickly as possible. Here is what I got: The opposite of all those things. A head nod to let me know I can approach the counter by someone slouching down his chair while wearing a slightly dirty jacket. Cordial, but not necessarily friendly Being rushed through the initial exam by the Dr's assistant with extremely fast paced speaking and very little explanation of what was being put into my eyes nor a brief moment of reprieve from the burning it caused before prying my other eye open to drop more liquid into it. Friendly, but not attentive. Being left for 30 minutes in the exam room. I had to go to the front desk and ask, where i was met with not a word uttered about how odd that may be to forget about a patient A Dr. That shows up 10 minutes later with not a single acknowledgement to forgetting a patient for 30 minutes. I don't care about an apology, just don't make it seem normal. If it is normal to you, you need to reevaluate your care tactics. Once again feeling that I am on an assembly line belt at 100 mph being rushed through an exam for some reason every person I talked to kept saying I was there because of floaters in my eyes. Odd because that was the smallest of my concerns. Nor did I ever bring it up until they asked me whether I had floaters. It was like a game of telephone.
I will not choose this location again. It was subpar medical care, very impersonal and very clear they were trying to move everyone through as fast as humanly possible. Except the part they forgot about me. During that 30 minutes, they treated me like I had all day to do nothing but sit in a dark room with insanely...
