My friend and I visited on Wednesday January 2nd. Expectedly, it was a quiet night the day after new years. It was cold and dark and drizzling. Everyone was back at home after dealing with the end of the holidays.
We were happy to find that Sit Tite was quiet. There were a few patrons who looked like they were finishing their food when we got there. There was no-one behind the bar, so we helped ourselves to one of the many open tables.
After a bit, a young lady appeared who walked by our table as we were studying the menus we had helped ourselves to from atop the bar. She remarked: “order at the bar when you’re ready” as she walked by, and then headed to another section to bus a table. All was well.
My friend and I waited a few minutes until she returned to behind the bar. By then we were ready to order food and drinks.
My friend approached and put in our order: two chicken parm sandwiches, and the large caesar salad to share. We also got a shot of gin and a seltzer to share.
The salad came out promptly on a large plate via the lone bartender. It looked amazing. We had to ask her for forks, extra plates, and black pepper. We got the first two, but the black pepper never came.
We weee delivered the two chicken parm sandwiches next, these came directly from the chef. They looked generous in size and had wonderful curb appeal, despite the extremely dim lighting in the establishment.
I moved onto my chicken parm before my friend. I was a few bites in, and thought it was good, although it could have heard some black pepper.
My friend brought up to the tender as she was walking around aimlessly that we would like some black pepper: a request that she had to retreat into the kitchen to abscond with, and it came to us in a small dish as opposed to a shaker or grinder. Fine enough.
As we were then about to continue with our meal, the tender began aggressively spraying the tables in our direct vicinity with an unknown liquid. Each spray created large plumes of mist in the air that were visible in the low light of the room.
The third table she sprayed was directly next to (one foot at most) away from my friend’s food. There was nothing on this table. The table was not dirty. It is almost as though she was just compulsively spraying tables barren tables with no mind to the fact we were eating.
I paused and asked the tender for her attention, which she politely gave me. I asked “excuse me, what is in that bottle”. She explained that it was a mixture of bleach and water. To which I then explained that she had just sprayed a large misting of it on my friend’s untouched sandwich that was mere inches away from the plume.
She said “but I was spraying down” I replied “I could see the mist and it’s going everywhere”. The tender replied “what can I do to make this better for you” (which was impressive given the incredulity of the moment).
We decided to cut our losses, pack up our things, and leave. I felt as though my sandwich had avoided most of the bleach, so we packed that in a to go box that was sitting near the bus station.
TLDR: Weird experience. Food was good. I think this tender made an honest mistake, but I don’t understand using a spray bottle ever near anyone’s food. Use a wet rag to wipe down tables.Won’t be visiting again. Much better restaurants nearby on Mississippi and...

If you’re looking for the best Italian food in the Portland area, Sit Tite is the spot. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel right at home — friendly, welcoming, and passionate about the food they serve.
The Chicken Parm Sandwich is hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Crispy, juicy, and smothered in gooey cheese, it’s perfect with a side of their homemade marinara that’s packed with rich, tangy flavor. Speaking of marinara, don’t miss the Meatball Sub — those meatballs are unbelievably tender and full of savory goodness.
And if pasta’s calling your name, the Rigatoni Vodka is a must. Creamy, bold, and with just the right kick of spice, it’s everything you could want in a comfort meal. Pair it with a glass of wine, and you’ve got yourself the perfect night out.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Sit Tite is a spot you won’t forget. Authentic Italian flavors, incredible service, and a vibe that feels like family — this place deserves all the stars.
I’ve brought over 10 people here to show them how amazing it all is and none of them have been let down! Date night or fun night, go...
Read moreInviting bar, delicious well-made food. Great outdoor space, cozy seating area inside with a big screen TV, and a game room with one pool table, pinball, video games and a Photo Booth. Sounds like the outdoor space is getting a good sized covered area before winter hits. The food was delicious. We had the meatball parm, the chicken parm and the Caesar salad. The bread on the sandwiches is great; soft and fresh. The meatballs were scrumptious. The texture was perfect and the spices and herbs came through with gusto! If 24th & Meatballs had flavor like that they’d still be open. The chicken parm was also noteworthy. The chicken was super juicy and flavorful. Caesar salad has a great dressing, love the chop on the lettuce and the crunchy crouton crumbles are amazing. I would buy a bag of them to sprinkle on all my foods. The table next to us had a few of the pasta dishes and they looked super yummy. The back outdoor space is super relaxing and comfortable. Very inviting. ADA accessible entrance. Parking can be difficult...
