The Baker's Mark — Restaurant in Portland

I gave one of the owners a Lyft ride a while back and he was speaking my love language - sandwiches! I told him how nothing beats a new twist on a classic, and sometimes the fancy schmancy sandwiches we get these days just seem…overworked. He didn’t exactly dare me to try their take so much as just casually drop a gauntlet as he left my car. And since they are in my neighborhood and he was such a great passenger - I think good people make great food…the secret ingredient is love! - how could I not answer the challenge? OMG. I noticed this good looking spot last year and have been wanting to try it out. My friend and I shared two sandwiches that they cut in half for us: The Godfather and French Dip. Excellent sandwiches!!

Ordering is done through a monitor screen which takes a bit of perusing to get through, but you get to add optional ingredients (additional cost) and pick from the different rolls on your own. It’s a bit strange as you don’t really interact with anyone except when picking up your order in a bag. A “hello” or greeting of some sort would be nice. I have been coming to the downtown and Division locations for years and I have NEVER been disappointed - this place is incredible! The borgata, the vegan, the godfather, every sandwich is great. Man, if you put a flip flop on a Baker’s Mark dutch crunch roll I bet it would taste good!

The only heads up I’d give is that recently, they may have slightly reduced the amount of meat in the sandwiches (which I think is actually a better balance). So, if you want the old school Baker’s Mark experience with an ungodly amount of meat on your sandwich, be sure to add extra. Regardless, this place is still great value for...
