We decided to try this place because of the good reviews. Overall the service was okay and the sushi was great, nothing to complain about since it’s just conveyor belt sushi and we weren’t going in with super high expectations. We also ordered chicken yakisoba in the beginning. We were done eating and we’re still waiting for this yakisoba. It took 30 minutes for the yakisoba to come out. We were in the middle of our meal and ordered the karaage and that took much lesser time for some reason. When the yakisoba finally came out it was…..something. It didn’t even taste like yakisoba, it was just salty and the flavor was indescribable and undesirable like burnt bread almost. The chicken was super bland. The noodles were much thinner than usual yakisoba and it was not chewy, pretty mushy. We took 2 bites and left it untouched. Everything else we ate and didn’t leave any leftovers. We asked in the end if we could take the yakisoba off of our check and to not have it take it to go. The waiter asked why we didn’t like it. We gave our reasons and I didn’t want to be rude and straight up say “i’ve had better yakisoba”. He basically said those reasons weren’t valid enough and said if there were something wrong with the freshness of the ingredients that would be on the kitchen and then they would take it off. It was a back and forth thing and in the end we payed for it and had it to take it to go and gave it to a homeless person. I would just recommend for anyone going to be careful of what you order in case you don’t like it because they...
Read moreReading through the reviews you would think this place would knock your socks off. Maybe it’s the folks enjoying the convenience factor of average sushi on conveyor belt.
Second time at the place after a decent experience grabbing some food Xmas eve.
Walked in at 4:00 pm wanting to grab a quick bite on December 31. Dropped my name on the list and sat down. Restaurant maybe 1/3 capacity, so was hoping to grab a quick seat.
Watched as the two table staff walked by without saying a word. Hey I get it, you are working New Year’s Eve and you are probably tired, but not saying a word about the wait or a quick “be right with you” just gives the place a bad vibe. Waited a bit longer as they shuffle and clean counters—again 1/3 full—just sitting all by my lonesome, no one else waiting.
Not trying to be an ass but was simply trying to get food and the whole vibe was off putting. Sushi is not exactly a 10 dollar sandwich so was hoping for at least some acknowledgment. Not expecting you to bend over backwards or break the pizzazz bank, but something…maybe even—dare I say—eye contact.
Maybe it’s an old school expectation, but some greeting for a place that has a Japanese name is a valid expectation. And, let’s be real, it’s Portland and there’s sushi options galore, so I walked out to find a friendlier spot.
Seems like a bunch of people like the place with lots of high praise but I gotta be honest: service and vibe made the place not worth it on this day.
Like I said, maybe it was an off day and your...
Read moreI have been here for lunch multiple times and I felt like it's a pretty good track sushi place. We decided to put in a take out order last night as we were trying to get from one event to another.
The business website directs you to order through a Door Dash link. We placed an order for pick up and went to pick it up after getting the notification it was ready. When we arrived, we showed the order ticket and gave the name. The woman at the front counter seemed confused and a man came over. He said he already gave the order to "someone". I told him it wasn't to the people who placed or paid for the order. He literally shrugged and said he already gave it to someone. We showed him on the app where it says pick up (versus delivery) but he rudely refused to do anything to help us or make it right. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but he came off very smug and condescending. My best guess is either 1.) A door dash delivery driver was given our order by mistake and would deliver the wrong meal to someone else (which would result in two unhappy customers) or 2.) An unscrupulous person looking for a free meal came in and they gave him our food without the proper proof of purchase.
If your staff isn't able or willing to use Door Dash properly, don't link it through your website as the way to order take out. Door Dash made it right and credited us back, but this employee's rudeness and lack of concern has made me not...
