Great dive style bar with a spacious but cozy music venue in the back. Perfect location near central St Johns, on major bus lines and everything.
This place has a great and spacious patio, cozy bar seating, and frequently has bands playing in their music venue. I really enjoyed the overall experience when seeing a band here a couple of months ago.
Draft beers were a pretty normal price for Portland bars, maybe a little higher than your typical dive. Tall boys are the way to go here, especially if you're taking your drink into the music venue.
My biggest issue wasn't having to do with the space itself. A group that seemed to be regulars of the music venue basically took over the front portion of the floor, just to take selfies and be on their phones for the whole show. They also seemed entitled to video whoever they wanted to (rude!!) When someone confronted them about it, they claimed to be friends of the band. That was a bummer for me, and seems to be far too commonplace now. I hope that venues like The Fixin To can address this with some stricter house rules for taking videos and photos during shows.
I'm going to a show to get into the music, get down and dance, and enjoy myself. That's hard to do when some entitled white girls and their iPhones invade the whole stage front and think they have the right to invade peoples...

There is a gym down the road that is way kool too. There is a lot of military people that work out there. Early am times like 3-7 am there there busting it out. They have Olympic...
Read moreA very nice space! There is a small inside area with tables and a bar, a performance space where bands come and play on certain nights, and a lovely heated outdoor patio. The music played outside is always good. The people that frequent here tend to be friendly neighbors. Why three stars? The bartenders have in my experience been consistently grouchy. A smile goes a long way in customer service. It just kills me when I'm the one saying "Thank you," or "Goodbye," while the staff doesn't say a thing. Then again- lots of people put up with the tude so they can sit and enjoy themselves outside. You might just want to try this place and judge...
