UPDATE - 9/18/25 - I went back in, and the chef was kind enough to let me try a different pizza. The place was buzzing but the owner, Miriam, took the time to come out and meet me directly!
The pizza I chose (A Lil' Pistachio Squeeze) was one of the best pizzas I've ever had and was very tasty. I also purchased a regular pizza for my mom, and she thoroughly enjoyed it also. Yummmm is right!
Thank you for the generosity and for making a quality product.
P.S. the hostess continues to be one of the kindest people I've ever encountered in the food industry. She is fannnntastic and is so welcoming!

I was out driving for Lyft and got a sudden hankering for some gluten-free pizza, a very rare treat for me. I looked up gluten-free pizza near me, and Yums of PDX was the first to appear. I got so excited that I looked over the menu and immediately called to place my order. The gal who answered the phone was SO kind and accommodating. She instantly made me feel thankful that I called!
I arrived to a visually appealing restaurant that smelled divine. While waiting, I asked if I could use the restroom. It was unisex, very clean, and it smelled good. As I left the restroom, I couldn't help but look at the pizza's on other patron's tables as I walked by. The pizzas appeared to be wood fired and looked delicious. The sight of them whetted my appetite even more, and I was so excited to experience it for myself.
After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, I received a tiny box that felt extremely light. I've been gluten-free for over 10 years and am used to feeling disappointed with the small portion sizes of gluten-free pizza, and I didn't think much about it. I was waiting for a fare, so I decided to open the box and enjoy a slice. I was so taken aback by how small and lukewarm it was, and what it looked like, that I went back in to ensure that I received the correct order. The sweet gal told me "yes, you received the correct order." I told her "I know it's not your fault, but this is ridiculously skimpy for $28. Yes, TWENTY EIGHT dollars, and that didn't even include my $5 tip!
I understand that the chef is apparently a big deal, but this was truthfully the most disappointing gluten-free pizza I have EVER consumed. I hate to say it, but even crappy Domino's has you beat, Yums of PDX! There was zero "passion and artistry" in the pizza I consumed. The "crust" had the texture of slightly underdone cornbread, and their were very, very minimal toppings. I had to come home and doctor it up, just to make it somewhat palatable.
FYI - I paid an extra $8 for gluten-free free crust and pepperoni. I ordered the "Not Just A Marinara" and it had no distinguishable cheese under the measly toppings. I mean N.O.N.E. The cheese on the 2nd photo was added parmesan that I requested. It tasted identical to Kraft parmesan that you can purchase at any grocery store. I was very tempted to ask for my money back, but I felt bad for the hostess.
If you're not gluten-free, I can only assume that this place would be delicious. If you are gluten-free, I highly suggest that you search elsewhere to indulge your pizza craving. I truly feel like I was cheated, and I very rarely feel that way with food establishments. Sadly, I will never, ever visit this establishment again unless they change things and attempt to accommodate...
Read moreHad such high hopes, given all the buzz. Have lived in many of the places that Chef Miriam has in her pizza-making journey (Clinton Hill, Park Slope, etc. but not Dayton, tho). Tonight's service was surprising and disappointing.
After asking the waiter his favorite of the night, I ordered that one. When the pizza came after a long wait (he had told us upon arrival that there was only one person in the kitchen tonight, so we understood this part), it was the wrong one. I asked him about it and figured he'd say something like:
So sorry, let me take that away and we'll squeeze you in at the front of the line in the busy kitchen to get you the right thing, but that'll still take XX minutes. Would that be ok?
Or wow, that's the exact opposite of what you ordered. If you'd like to just eat this one, we'll comp it. What's your preference?
Instead, he asked me to solve it and asked what I'd like to do. To keep it simple, an not make him feel bad about his mistake, I asked him to just give me a deal on the $26 pizza because we couldn't wait longer. Instead of saying sure, he said he'd have to ask permission.
As we were about to leave he came back and said that the kitchen said he could offer me a dessert. It's something I can't eat so I said no thanks, and that that was the end of it.
The people in my group thought it odd that a place would bring the wrong order to the table, ask me to come up with a solution, then disagree with that solution and offer something that didn't work and upon hearing that didn't care either way.
I get that a place can have growing pains or new staff or an off night. Any one or more of those might have been true tonight. That said, we can agree that basic service is to make things right when things go wrong. That was not true tonight and we can't recommend this...
Read moreNEW CONTENDER ON THE BLOCK I heard about a new pizza spot that recently opened up and definitely had to come give it a try. I made a reservation a few days in advance for a casual dinner with friends. This place is located on the east side of Portland in a very unassuming location. Upon walking in we were greeted by very welcoming staff into a warm, cozy, family friendly space. The service itself is quick, however, food certainly did take time to arrive. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our pizza. The pizza itself was excellent. It is very clear that they use extremely high quality and fresh ingredients. It is very light on the stomach. The crust was fantastic. Extremely flakey and soft. However, the undercarriage was certainly on the more thin side. The pizza itself is also on the floppier side. The flavor while great may be lacking in some ways. I personally think it could use some salt or chili flakes kind of like a Ken’s Artisan Pizza provides to enhance the already present taste. Fair warning, the vodka sauce does have alcohol in it. However, they are very accommodating and will substitute it for another sauce on their sauce flight. The pricing is also slightly on the higher side, especially when comparing to Ken’s Artisan Pizza. The portion sizes however, are adequate.
Overall, I certainly would recommend this place to anyone. I think it is a must try pizza spot...
