What a disaster !!!!
I can't believe those reviews, it makes me wonder if this was the same place I went to.
Those must be fake reviews, it is a small town it is possible... or maybe they are slacking off. We are from Canada and we took the day to visit beutiful Portsmouth , just for the record, I travel a lot and have lived in 6 countries and cited 14 and I have never eaten so bad in my life.
Unfortunately I took my mother which is from Brazil to eat "hamburger" on Lexie's Joint ....oh my ... first of all the server the chubby rude guy come to us with a look on his face like we shouldn't even be there.(now I understand why, he was probably trying to warn us) lol
I wanted to make a quick decision in what to eat but the menu was so awfully written confusing all over the place where chicken is called cluck and I would never expect when they say chicken burger with fried onion means patties burgers with anything but chicken and deep fried onion RINGS on top .
I had no idea what those sauces name meant and the server didn't felt like explaining either ,
To make very long story short , I was shock with the service and the food, soggy chicken pattie sandwich thats did not taste like chicken at all... with deep friend onions rings on top and 1/2 cup of sauce sauce on it , in a floppy wet bread.. OH MY GOD! Just the most disgusting sandwich I ever seen and had to try in my ENTIRE life it made me gag on the first bite.
My poor mother's sandwich was suppouse to come with 2 lousy toppings and had none, I mentioned to the blonde passive aggressive lady which is probably the owner and she didn't believe and made me check again, she then decided to bring the toppings in a plate so my mother would put them herself .
When things could not get any worse my husband FOUND HAIR in my daughter's fish, not one but 2 blonde hairs inside. None of us have blonde hair. I told the waiter and heard no apologies , when I mentioned to the owners she was dismissive and all she said was " he told me!"
Hands down the worse place I have ever eaten in my life from service to food it is all bad. They voluntarily removed the fish with hairs from my bill. Later husband and mother both had stomach ache from the food... very...
Read moreThe first I heard of Lexie's was, ironically, from a friend on the west coast that's never been here, who saw it featured on the Food Network's top 101 restaurants, at number 20! Since then I've been recommended to try it out from numerous people that have actually been there, so I decided to give it a try yesterday.
Lexie's is a simple, small restaurant with about 8 tables, a counter, and take out. They have a small menu that specializes in burgers and fries, simply made with a variety of high quality ingredients. I ordered the urban cowboy burger, which is a cheeseburger that features onion rings, bbq, avacado, and chimmichuri, as well as some truffle fries. I had tap water to drink (served in a simple plastic cup). My boyfriend purchased a different burger, an order of truffle fries, and a bottled root beer, and our entire meal came to less than $25 with tax and tip. It's ultimately similarly priced to Five Guys, but with a much wider variety of choices.
The portions are small by American standards (which we know isn't necessarily actually small), and they're served in unpretentious paper boats, which I would assume helps to keep their prices reasonable.
The food was flavorful, original, and delicious. The menu has something for everyone, including a house vegetarian burger patti. They also have milkshakes, which I'll try next time through. I would recommend...
Read moreFood was good like Lexie's usually is, but there were a couple things that made the experience much less enjoyable. The first thing was the smell of the restaurant upon entering. It smelled like my friend and I were entering a recently used bathroom. The host/waiter was nice enough but didn't seem very happy about his job which didn't make me feel at home like a fun burger place should. Lastly and probably the biggest annoyance was that the restaurant used two speaker systems that played completely different music at equal loud volumes. This was distracting and just sounded terrible. They were using a nice audio system too, just using it in the worst way. Keep in mind this space is small too, so there is no spot in the area that I could have avoided the overlapping sounds of Green Day and Ed Sheeran ringing in my ears.
The Lexie's restaurant in Durham used to be one of my favorite restaurants, and even though the food was similar - the experience ruined my chances at a future return...
