What started out as a great lunch with a few friends turned into a very disheartening and frustrating experience at Big Bear Deli. We walked in and were greeted by some beautiful smiles and hellos from the girls and male manager. We chatted with them, getting a heads up on what the popular items were and them quickly placed our orders. Noticing the atmosphere was very nice and friendly, I asked if he was a new owner.....previous encounters with the owner, Tim, were not favorable. Tim gravely lacks customer service tact and professionalism. The young man informed me the owner wasn't in, but his wife was there working. The place was busy with limited seating, so we took the advice from the gal at the register and swiftly grabbed one of the remaining small tables to fit our party of 3. She encouraged us to grab a chair from a smaller table to seat the 3 of us. After receiving our sandwiches and enjoying our meal, the owners son taps my friend on the shoulder and in an incredible demeaning manner, tells her....not asking her....to put the chair back at the other table when she leaves. His customer service skills are definitely a learned behavior from his father.....because I've never witnessed the mother being so rude. This young man works there and receives a paycheck for doing his job.....and that entails serving the public. You don't tell customers to rearrange the furniture after they just spent a hefty amount of money for a sandwich. Especially after we were encouraged to grab that chair by his coworker to suit our parties needs. If someone is that unhappy in their life and in their job, perhaps they should seek another career that better suits them. Needless to say, we will NOT be back and will be sure to pass the word about the terrible customer service...
Read moreLove this place. The staff are very friendly, after being in 2 or 3 times they greet you by name. Prices are fair, portions are huge, and the food is great. They have a large selection of sandwiches and always have a daily special. They have different home made soups each day. They offer cookies and brownies for dessert. Every sandwich comes with a bag of chips and a pickle wedge. Their service is fast and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. I have been going to Big Bear since December of 2015 (that is shortly after I moved to Post Falls) and have been going to this deli at least once a week since I found it. I have recommeneded it to everyone I know, including my boss who moved here recently and he now goes to Big Bear every day for lunch and neither of us has grown tired of it. I have been working my way through the menu and the daily specials and have never had anything I didn't like. The wait tends to be longer at lunch time as everyone shows up at the same time, but even then the wait isn't overly long. I highly recommend this Deli to anyone who is looking for a delicious meal that isn't "fast food" and is in the mood for soup, sandwich, or salad. You can't go wrong with Big...
Read moreToday I ordered a Hog Wild from there and got home to eat it, I was so upset with the burnt bacon and the differences made on the sandwich. I called up there to bring it to their attention and was told..."that's how it is some days" .....WTH!!! And that was the manager that said that..I got so frustrated with the answer that I had to say thank you and bye! My wife called and said that shouldn't be that way if it's on a timer. So the the last stays to make different excuses from old ovens to it not being monitored properly... hello, somebody needs to talk to whoever works the ovens or something. Not fire because it could be an honest mistake. But when you go to a restaurant you don't cook bacon differently and serve it unless asked to. I felt totally disrespected by the answer after all the years I've eaten there, I can't anymore. And there was NO BBQ SAUCE in there. My dog ate some and looked at me like why you give me this. Miss...
