We were disappointed to discover Taco Don's had closed due to unfortunate circumstances and decided to try this restaurant, which is across the street.
Service was particularly slow, though they were busy, it seemed the majority of the customers in before us were wrapping up their meals.
The menu itself offers impressive fair and it took a few extra minutes to decided. My dinner partner ordered a taco plate and I decided to try the seafood enchiladas. I decided to try them, because they are my most favorite and are typically pretty good, most often having shrimp, scallops, squid, and a variety of other seafood in a nice cream sauce.
This was not a seafood enchilada plate. This was strangely mushy and tough tortillas wrapped around imitation crab flaked in what tasted like country gravy with chilis and onions. It was gross. I ate one of the two enchiladas, because I thought perhaps, that was whatever squeezed out the end of the enchilada during cooking, and there would be more. No. For $14.00, I had the most disgusting plate of food ever. The server never came back to our table, and we actually had to fetch the check. I told the cashier my food was gross, and she simply said she was sorry to hear that. I do not know how this is some sort of hidden gem, local staple, other than their serving alot of alcohol and apparently their tacos were "above average, but I have had better" according...
Read moreGreat Mexican food and lots of parking in this family owned restaurant located just across the street from the Post Office on Miller Valley Road here in Prescott.
The chips and dip that are routinely served are delicious enough to be a meal by themselves. I had the Camarones de Theresa (Shrimp with cheese and garlic rice). Delicious and with plenty of shrimp (no skimping) and I ate the whole thing! I washed it all down down with Amber Dos Equis beer (I do not always drink beer but when I do...wink..wink.).
Giving in to temptation I had the fried ice cream for desert. Erica (my server) provided good and speedy service. This was my second visit and I will return again soon with out of town guests that asked me to recommend a good Mexican restaurant.
They do not accept Amex like some whiners complained in these reviews but so what? Just whip out the ol' Mastercard or Visa or cash and pay the bill. What's the big deal?
Some folks did not give this place a good review for mickey mouse reasons. Sheesh... there's always at least one or two crabapples in the crowd. Ignore those haters and their trash talk and come out and enjoy a nice meal here. Viva Mexico! Viva Arturo's!...
Read moreThis will probably be our Go-To place for Mexican food up here in Prescott Valley from now on. We are from down in the Valley and have been having a disappointing time trying to find good Mexican food up here that is even slightly comparable to the taste and quality of food we were used to down in the Phoenix Metro. Well, we found Arturo's and we are happy we did. I got the shredded beef chimi dinner, my Mom got their shredded beef taco and enchilada. The cheese crisp was very good. The salsa was nice, not as spicy as I'm used to, but still nice. We did carry out, so the complimentary salsa and chips were really pretty small to be honest. However, while the other Mexican food places we tried up here will not be seeing us again- I can safely say that we will be going back to Arturo's for our Mexican food from now on. Happy we...
