Normally I'm not in the camp that believes that you should tank a restaurant review just based on customer service, after all there are some places where the food is excellent and the service is the opposite, everyone knows it, and that's okay. The experience I got tonight was comically horrendous, and the lady who provided this horrible service was hyperfixated on the US open men's final match between Alcaraz and Ruud to the point of not taking our order, huffing and puffing, and hanging up on orders, and waving off other potential customers and ignoring the service bell when other customers arrived, all to watch some TV. I'll also add here that the food was merely average and does not even close to make up for the terrible service.
The level of disrespect and dismissiveness of customers can only be described as "I own this place and I don't care what happens because I can't get fired". She was midway through taking my order and literally just stopped to zone out and watch the TV as if she was hypnotized. I had to stop and ask her "should I just stop and take my business somewhere else?" To which she responded "okay okay I'm listening". Also, what you see in my picture is what I got for $65. The chicken is all right, but I should've listened to previous reviews and only stuck to ordering the chicken. The japchae was bland and the tteokbokki was the same.
We were dining in and she basically just push the food cart right behind us and zoned out for another minute watching the TV while our food was sitting there on the cart, then she grabs the food and tosses it on to our table and leaves the cart immediately behind our chairs and walks over the TV to watch it for a good five minutes straight while other customers were walking in and ringing the bell looking for someone to take their order. It just sucks to spend that much money on dinner there when there are other good businesses on the same street who...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of the Korean Fried Chicken spot at Brown University, visiting almost weekly and consistently recommending it to friends. The taste has always been enjoyable, and the variety of flavors is impressive. However, my recent experience has left me quite disappointed, and I feel compelled to share it to help others make informed decisions.
On my latest visit, I encountered a situation that really soured my experience. I tried to order 24 pieces of wings, which I had done many times before with the option to mix flavors. To my surprise, the woman taking my order—who I believe may be the owner—refused to allow mixed flavors this time. While I was initially willing to accept this, we ended up placing separate orders for 16, 8, and another 8 pieces with different flavors.
When we received our order, I was frustrated to find that the 8-piece order was packed in the same box as one of the larger orders. This was particularly disappointing because we had intended to share the wings with friends, and the mixing of orders made it unfair for the amount we paid. Added to this was the lack of radish pickles; we were given only one when we had ordered three different sets. When I inquired about getting more, I was met with a flat refusal.
Overall, the value for what we paid—over $70—did not match our expectations given the service and how the order was handled. It’s a shame, as I had really enjoyed my experiences here in the past. I would recommend potential customers to be cautious and perhaps explore other options for Korean fried chicken in the area, as my experience has led me to believe that management might not prioritize customer satisfaction as much as they should.
I hope the restaurant takes this feedback into consideration and improves their service, as they do have the potential to be a fantastic spot...
Read moreThe worst restaurant I've ever ordered from. There used to be a really awesome guy running the place, but the woman currently running the restaurant is extremely rude (clapped at my friend's face to tell him to finish inputting his tip faster, harasses Snackpass orderers and shoos them out of the store). I ordered 16 pc boneless wings on Snackpass; I got my order and the woman personally saw me take my order without problem, but turns out my order only had 8 pieces of chicken in it. Another time I got bone-in wings that came out lukewarm; when I sent them back, I received wings again but they were the exact same wings microwaved!!! I knew this because I paid attention to a scallion that was untouched from its original position, so it was obvious that the woman took my lukewarm order and just put it in the microwave. Lastly, the scallion pancakes are extremely expensive, which would be fine if they were good, but they come in about 4 relatively-small slices that AREN'T COOKED!!!! The scallions were raw and the bread was pitiful. The only upside to Soban is that their chicken is phenomenal-tasting (though it may upset your stomach) along with some other items on their menu. Extremely disappointed by this place; it has ruined many nights for me and my friends and we've learned our mistake: as long as the woman is the person running the store, we will never order from this Soban...
