Captain Seaweed's Pub — Restaurant in Providence

A nautical-themed bar on Ives St, Captain’s Seaweeds is a fun little bar. It has some elements of a dive bar, but I wouldn’t really call it that. While they do have a pool table and fairly cheap beer, imbibers are generally from around the neighborhood, not really the typical dive bar crowd. I mean, there was a group playing with Beyblades when we came. They don’t serve food, but there are a couple good options nearby and they’ll let you bring in takeout. They do have an outdoor area when the weather’s nice, but during the winter the bar tends to get pretty crowded. Lots of nautical themed decorations, which help give it a unique character. All in all, a good option if you’re coming for a few drinks and then heading home, but it’s a little out of the way if you’re trying to bar hop or don’t live...

UPDATED: MARCH VISIT: This was such a fun bar! Themed but still cheap because its a dive. Good bartender. They've got and indoor and outdoor section and theres great food just next door. We haven't explored the outside because its freezing weather. Loved it and wish i lived closer to go back more often. MAY VISIT: We went back again for cinco de mayo which was a really warm day so we got to finally sit outside. We had an even better experience than the first time! Low key, friendly people. Referred by a friend I visited cap seaweed and had a good experiance. Being one of the last remaining neighborhood bars this place was a mix of older fun locals and some younger college crowd. The service was quick and the drinks were reasonably priced. They've pitchers and one good condition pool table. The table actually gave me a problem when I deposited my quarters but a very accommodating humorous owner helped me as soon as I asked for help.
