Big Rig Tacos Y Mariscos — Restaurant in Proviso Township

Rarely post reviews, but this joint compelled me to express my genuine satisfaction. While some places go so far as to charge you for chips and salsa nowadays, not only do you get a basket of chips, but you also get a bowl of pickled veggies AND a sample size of their frijoles charros. The items we ordered consisted of a tostada de ceviche, a sope de rajas, a torta de milanesa, and an order of their french fries topped with nacho cheese and carne asada. Although the tostada was my favorite (so fresh tasting!) all the other items were just as delicious, each with their distinct flavors. Example, the torta included panela cheese (seared just right) and a special sauce that seemed to include Mexican mayo, ketchup and something savory I couldn’t pin point, but combined made for a unique and memorable bite.

Considering there are several other Mexican restaurants within a block of this spot, this place stands out...

Great food! Great prices! This is hands down my favorite restaurant. We visit 1-2 times a week. I always get seafood, from here. The fish tacos are the best. They recently added fajitas to their menu and they are amazing! The onions are grilled, till caramelized. Which adds amazing flavor to the bell peppers and the shrimp themselves. They sell a trio fajita plate, that has meat, chicken, and shrimp. It's served with beans, rice, and guacamole. You get a lot of food with the fajitas. My husband like the steak tacos and lengua tacos. My daughter loves the shrimp and fish tacos. This place has great food. They started us off with a sample of "Frijoles charros" I would describe as Mexican version of chili. Amazing flavor. They give you chips and salsa as well. The price is right for the portions they give you. The food quality and taste is great. These tacos are my favorite around Melrose Park and Northlake. They also have the truck at Mannheim and grand.
