El Asadero — Restaurant in Proviso Township

⚠️BEWARE!!!!! BEWARE!!! THEY CALL THE COPS 👮‍♀️ ON THEIR CUSTOMERS IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THERE FOOD!!

I went to eat here after my son and daughter graduation. Let me start off saying the food is below average. We kept sending back the plates and the cook kept on giving us dirty looks! The waitress was actually very nice when we complained about the meat being very hard when we asked medium rare. The waitress apologized and offered to remake the steak however, my mother felt very bad we kept on sending back the plates so she waitress offered a discount. When I went to pay, I asked the cashier if she discounted she no my mom should have brought they plate back and she ate most of the steak. I explained my mother took a bite then complained so the waitress agreed to give discount. The cashier said we cannot give you a discount so I asked for a manger which she said theirs none. I then I asked for her name and questioned for what then I explained how the waitress agreed on the discount. A off duty cop came to counter and said we were very rude and we have to leave. So me being a professional I apologize and was leaving . Off duty cop said he comes here all the time.Police from Melrose park show up and asked us what was the problem. They seen nothing wrong and let me, my wife, four children and both of my parents go. Thank you cashier, cook and off duty cop for ruining my kids...

I usually like going to Asadero but I went this past Sunday and it was by far the wort service I’ve had in a while my husband and I got there and it was busy, as we sat down we waited about 5 minutes for anyone to even come acknowledge we wr at a table then the busboy brings one menu to our table okay we can share... waited another 5 minutes before the waitress comes and sus are you Ready to order? Sure I proceed to order as does my husband then she asks what to drink walks away 10 mins later comes with drinks I had asked for a cup of ice with my pop and she forgot it’s okay is aske for it again, another waitress comes to bring it to our table and my order is missing a side I asked for my okay o ask for it again... as I look around other tables are in the same boat as we are my steak was supposed to be well done it was burnt my side of cebollitas was raw and my husbands mojarra was flavorless we were never asked if we needed anything each time we did we had to wave done a waitress For a Sunday you would think they’d be a little...

We work up and down Lake St. and this was always the go-to spot. It is admittedly inconsistent sometimes (carne apache can be wonderful, or too spicy to handle - and I like spicy) but relative to every other place from Lombard to the City, along St. Chas. Rd/Lake St., you just couldn't beat this place! The chicken is what this place is known for. I'm not a big fan of chicken - Asadero makes me change my mind! The seasoning/grilling is perfection! The tacos are huge, the burrito suizo is more than a fat guy can eat and more flavorful than the tastiest steakhouse (with VERY minimal fat)! People leaving bad reviews don't appreciate REAL Mexican, this is not some Americanized chain. Minus one star only for some inconsistency and the Mariachi bands while I'm working... but that's real life. Updated, prices just went up $2 across the board, minus another star for that.
