MOTHER'S DAY RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Proviso Township

Yes, this restaurant is not only a place you can take your mother on Mother’s Day, but the name of the restaurant is called Mother’s Day Restaurant. I’m sure they’re found easily in the local online search for a spot to take mom’s for Mother’s Day!

I found this restaurant while trying to find a breakfast spot on my way to North Riverside Mall. It’s practically down the street from the mall in the cozy western suburb of North Riverside, Illinois. During the time I searched for it on Google, it had an average of 4.4 stars for its ratings.

This was perfect and impromptu brunch spot to include in my 2024 Best Brunch Challenge!

It’s a nice joint with plenty of parking. The staff were friendly too. As expected, it was crowded for a Sunday morning, but surprisingly, we sat down right away. We were eating breakfast about 20 minutes of sitting down.

My husband tried the Mexican Omelette and gave it a good review, but he didn’t care too much for the pancakes. Yes, they look fluffy, however, when you bite into them, there was an extra texture – not rubbery, but there was some tension when you bite into the pancakes. Weird, but it was there. Once he added butter all over the pancakes, apparently that made it better. Ha Ha!

I ate the french toast and skirt steak skillet. Both were good, however, the french toast was a little light on the nutmeg and / or cinnamon. The skirt steak skillet was really delicious. That was my first experience. They added all the best toppings too. Fluffy eggs, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, two different cheeses, including swiss. The portion size was large, so I took some home to eat the next day.

The only surprising issue was the juice. Originally, I ordered the cranberry juice, and I had to send it back as it tasted too weak. Literally as if they got a glass of water and adding red food coloring. Yes, that bad! So the other choices were orange or apple juice. I was really trying to avoid acidic drinks, but I wanted some sort of flavor. I opted for the orange juice and that was somewhat better, but it tasted powdery. Needless to say I didn’t finish it.

If I’m in the area, I might try this restaurant again, but I’d definitely opt for a...

First let me say that the food is excellent. Soup so good salad good and my fish fry was great. Waitress was very confused says they don't make things anymore my party ordered but yet its on their special. Wasn't out said we don't carry that anymore. Vegetable was wrong on one order had to wait for another to be made. We wont go back here. Number one bus boy cleaning tables puts bus pan on the floor then puts on table. Wipes tables with just a rag and resets table. Aren't we still in a pandemic? where is the sanitizing spray? also in general that's not healthy cleaning at all. I have my vaccination but still you don't know if you can get it. I have to see now. I ordered a beer and wanted another. Apparently another table ordered a beer and the guy gave it to them. It was my beer the beer sat on that table guy there touched it and it sat there 15 or so. The waitress said oh ur beers coming up. The guy brings that other table his beer takes the wrong beer and goes to the counter . I get my beer I find out then that its same beer didnt grab another one. the one in my party told me after the fact I touched the bottle and poured drank. How disgusting is that. number one warm beer now. Number two We have a virus going on nobody was checked in this place people just walk in sit down and u give people stuff that was on strangers tables to save 2 bucks replacing it? I didn't make a scene or say anything in this day and age the other table could have started something because it was on their table and saying something about them. Do not eat here! This is the dirtiest restaurant ever! They only pass health codes because they pay them off. If I knew the health dangers cockroaches and mice posed, I would have left far sooner. There are roaches and mice everywhere, you might find one while you’re eating in a booth (other review for reference).There is mold in their soda machine. (I took it apart as a server there and showed the owner/manager). Syrup and other splatters all over walls and such. Also doesn’t believe in mothers right to pump, as when I demanded to be able to pump on my five hour shift, they decreased my hours working there. Workers scrape up your ice with the glass for your drink (safety hazards), too much food is microwaved 🙄, and a lot of times their creamy soups aren’t even creamy (watery!) and they’re probably made with flour. Also, when asked the manager/owner to cover the window more for me to pump, he said it should be fine. Here’s what my camera caught from outside of “fine”. That’s my book I was reading and my plastic bag for my pump. 🤦🏽‍♀️ owner/manager is a liar too, who shamed a coworker for gaining weight or customers for being fat. Idk why he’s talking that looking like that but next. manager/owner also claimed it was slow season and that’s why he allowed the supervisor to cut my hours again, but in reality two weeks ago when the supervisor cut my hours down, he told her to bring them back up to twenty. Now all of a sudden they only have enough room for me to work ten hours. Manager/owner clearly doesn’t want a woman feeding her child.
