I'm not trying to be mean or something I was just taken-a-back. It's been a while for me since I've been to Tommy's because health problems and it's aways out of the way for me. Arriving at the location it was a different scene, the building I was used to was all faded and closed up. There was a food trailer for ice cream stuff, kind of blocking the building and way over by the fence was the "new" Tommy's trailer though it's obviously been there a few years and frankly things where a mess (I think partially because of the hay bales mint for seats we're losing a lot of their fluff) but the tables out side were dirty. I ordered my favorite meal mouth watering in anticipation. It was a hot day but it was going to be worth it. So I stood off to the side in some shade and waited, and maybe it was the heat but I became impatient so I sat down and on the nearest table and in a couple mins the guy called out an order but it wasn't mine. And two people picked up the order. Again he called out an order a few mins after that and others got their order. I was close enough then to hear when my fries were put in to the fryer, and a while longer but longer than the hot day or the time it took I was so ready when my order was called. I sat down at a more shady table with my meal and the 12oz can of pop that seemed to be all that was available in the ice chest in front of the trailer. I'm like ok it's a trailer now, gotta save space. Opened the new! Food box craving some hot fries remembering in the past they were often so hot I had to cool them off with ketchup or fry sauce, but this wasn't the case and all I saw was what I would describe as low grade french fries like I got the "bottom of bag" with all the tiny and blemished french fries, big disappointment which was how this whole experience was for me play truly hope things can turn around but until that happens and I will be checking back I won't be a patron to this establishment I don't know what all happened here but I wish...

This place is really very good. It's a small shack that I kept intending to go to but never did until yesterday... I learned they've been open since the 80's and that's pretty impressive for an ever changing town like Provo, where keeping a new restaurant up seems pretty hard. After eating there it makes sense why they're still open. I had their Texas single and a side of chili cheese fries. Both pretty good, particularly the burger... however if I were to change anything, I'd prefer real cheese on the burger instead of the single slice of American cheese (that always tends to ruin a burger for me, I like the real stuff). Luckily the burger was flavorful enough to distract from the American cheese flavor... I just think it'd be so much better with a slice of real cheddar or something. The chili fries did appear to have real shredded cheese on it, however there wasn't as much on there as I'd expect for chili cheese fries... almost like the cheese was a garnish instead of a feature. The chili was a bit too spicy for my liking even though I like spicy, but chili is one of those things where it's really hard to please everyone, so I know there are probably people who swear on it and I don't blame them. Overall though I'd say my experience was good, and if I have a hankering for burgers again I'll likely be...

My husband and I came here on a Thursday and were super excited to try this place (I loved the hole in the wall vibe, and the past great reviews). Our experience was very, very poor. And I first want to recognize that it’s super hard for the food service industry right now and it’s honorable that employees even show up. Here was our experience: Our cashier was not super friendly, he didn’t really seem happy we were there. We had a buy one get one coupon and were told we needed to get chili on our burger. (Not what we initially came for, but we kept open minds). It was not very busy, but our burger took a little over 20 minutes to prepare. Just off a brief observation, the cashier prepping the food could have used a hairnet/another glove for the food he was touching. When we got our food, our burgers were cold, the bun was soggy with chili (my husband lost his appetite towards the end with the texture issues) and the chili was very, very salty. And there was a lot of chili… we had to scrape it off. We were so hungry at this point we just covered our burger in fry sauce and ate it. Our fries were half cold, half hot. We see the potential in this place, but perhaps came on...

I really wanted to love Tommy’s. I stopped here because I was feeling nostalgic since I used to eat here all the time when I was in college. They’ve moved out of their original building and are now a truck. The prices were on the high end for a fast food burger imo, but everything is now. We spent $22 for two burgers, one chili cheese fry and two drinks. The drinks were just Gatorade’s and sodas in a bucket. They weren’t in ice because it was all melted so they were warm. (They did replace the ice right as we were leaving) the chili was good, especially if you like a little spice. The fries themselves weren’t crispy enough to hold up with the chili though. The burgers were cooked well and the toppings were fresh. It took almost 20 minutes to get them though even though there was no one in line before us. Overall not what I remembered from Tommy’s 30 years ago.

About what you’d expect from a small corner burger joint. You eat outside or get it to go. I got the chili-burger combo and my son got the cheeseburger kids meal. He said he wished he had a second burger—he thought it was that good. My son had to go to the bathroom, and I was surprised when they said they had one. We were super glad they did, but seeing the inside of the building… it’s not what you want to see before you eat something (I’ll leave it at that). But we were super grateful we didn’t have to rush somewhere else for a toilet. Anyway… all things considered, I’d eat here again. I wouldn’t drive across town, but it’s a nice outdoor burger and hot dog place if you’re downtown Provo.

Tommy's is an adorable old-timey burger stand with exceptional food. I tried the Texas burger which has chili on top and absolutely loved it. The fries were perfectly cooked and crispy. I'm excited to go back and try their other burgers and hot dogs. This place is a must-visit if you're an individual who regularly visits downtown Provo and loves exploring cute, lesser-known (but still excellent) food joints. The restaurant has some outdoor seating as well which would be lovely to eat at in the warmer summer months, but generally, I'd say you should plan on driving up, going in to grab your food, and either enjoying it in your car or driving home/to the park/wherever you want to enjoy it
