-Missing/wrong order items. -Extremely rude service. -Underwhelming food. Will never go back.
I never write poor reviews, but this experience warranted one.
We ordered online for pickup and once we got home(30 min away) realized that the order was missing our appetizer, all the rice that came with the 4 entrees, and our Tofu curry was chicken (so couldn’t eat it).
I called the restaurant to let them know and just wanted a refund for the appetizer and curry. It was annoying yes, but didn’t want to make a big deal out of it.
The man that answered was nice enough, but we could clearly hear the gal in the background say that we were “lying about the missing rice” (minutes later she found our rice). She then told the guy that the “rice was free so we shouldn’t complain.” We were told we’d get a credit...(ok how?) and then they hung up. I called back to clarify and tell them about the curry and the gal answered. She tried to tell me that the curry was fine because they DID put in the extra veggies (that we PAID for)....(again we couldn’t eat it because it had chicken, not tofu). She was extremely defensive and rude despite the fact that I remained calm. She never apologized until the very end when I there was awkward silence.
She said she couldn’t give us a refund but would write our name down for a credit. (I honestly I already never wanted to eat here again, but had no other choice but a credit) When I ordered my “credit meal” I didn’t tell them my name until pickup. I was afraid something would happen to the food since they were so rude. Even if I hadn’t had the previous experience I wouldn’t eat here again, since “credit meal” was extremely...
Read moreA vegan review- This place was our main jam while we lived in Puyallup a few years back. Recently, we came back to visit family and decided to go here a few times. We called ahead and asked if they veganized some of their dishes. The woman on the phone was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what we meant and said that yes they could do that. We ordered the mango fried rice with tofu, drunken noodles with tofu, pad Thai and spring rolls. It was all perfect, delicious and just how we remembered. The second time, we weren’t so lucky. We ordered basically the same thing minus the pad Thai and specified vegan (which is even said on the receipt). We got it, didn’t check before we left (mistake) and as soon as we got back we noticed there was a lot of egg in both the rice and the noodles, which meant there was possibly fish sauce as well. My husband went back to show them, they apparently took both of the carry out containers. They came back with one of the old ones and one new one. They said there was egg in the noodles but not in the rice so they remade that one. There was clearly egg in both, and they fact that this was a hill they were willing to die on and not remake both of them makes me hesitant to go back in the future. The rice DID have egg in it and unfortunately no one else wanted to eat it so it went to waste. This makes me pretty sad since we used to go here ALL THE TIME when we lived here. Like 2-3...
Read moreThis is again a restaurant I have come to for many years. The food is great - always fresh, always takes time to cook and always comforting. I like the green curry here - it's different than most Thai restaurants and I still cannot put my finger on what's that different. It's lighter in color than most so I think they put less turmeric in their curry but I can't be sure. Whatever it is, it's good. Their chicken satay dare decent though I usually just stick to rice and noodles. The Tom yum soup is good too with a good ratio of tofu and mushrooms. The ambience and decor of this place hasn't changed in the years which I think is much needed. The dark interiors, same curtains, same mess when you enter the place and ask to have seat area is dull and that doesn't make this place very inviting. On top of the ambience, the service us pretty rudimentary - they just sit you down, take your order and see you when it's pay time. Nothing in between, no refills of water or courtesy curiosity. So Chili thai has good food and potential to be better if they update their interiors and service.
Tip: their food is chili so be careful how much you order on a...
