This was my first visit to Wei Shu Wu Hot Pot, and I’m already planning to return. Located at 47 Billings Road in North Quincy, it’s easy to reach by rideshare or MBTA (North Quincy T Station) and once inside, the space feels modern, spotless, and surprisingly upscale for a hot pot restaurant.
We came as part of a large dining club, and the restaurant offered us a special group deal, which was both generous and smoothly managed. Even with a big party, the service was attentive, efficient, and warm.
The food was beautifully fresh and presented with care. I ordered a wide range of meats, vegetables, tofu, and seafood. At our table, we had three broth choices: • A classic chicken broth — mild and comforting. • A mushroom broth — earthy, rich, and deeply flavorful. • A spicy broth (ordered mild) — still had a fiery kick and lots of depth.
We also tried the shrimp paste, which you squeeze into the pot yourself. I found it interesting but probably wouldn’t order it again personally—though others at the table really enjoyed it. It’s definitely worth trying if you’re curious.
One of the most impressive parts of the experience was the sauce station. It was immaculate and fully stocked, including generous amounts of fresh green onions and cilantro, sesame paste, garlic, vinegar, soy, chili oil, and more. They also had a tray of chicken or duck bones with plenty of meat still on them—available for you to take back to your table and enrich your broth. I’ve never seen that offered so freely before, and it was a fantastic touch.
I also tried two mocktails, and both were excellent: • The first was like a watermelon smoothie—icy, refreshing, and sweet without being too sugary. • The second was called “Melon Watermelon” and had a more delicate flavor. I believe it was intended to blend honeydew and watermelon, though it tasted a bit like watermelon with a hint of berries. Light, unique, and beautifully presented—neither drink felt like an afterthought.
And finally—the bathroom deserves its own round of applause. It was spotless and fully stocked with amenities: hand lotion, a hair dryer, Q-tips, cotton balls, paper cups, and mouthwash. It genuinely felt more like a boutique hotel powder room than a restaurant restroom. That kind of thoughtful detail really reflects the care that goes into the entire experience at Wei Shu Wu.
Note: The menu isn’t available online. It’s displayed on an iPad-style tablet at the table. I’ve included photos in this review to help future diners get a sense of what’s available.
Whether you’re a hot pot regular or trying it for the first time, Wei Shu Wu stands out for its freshness, hospitality, and attention to detail. I left full, impressed, and already thinking about...
Read moreIf you want to experience NO SERVICE and ruin your meal, then please go. It was about 8:50pm when me and my husband arrived. From the moment we stepped into the place, we got a poker face from the server who is tall, thin and got tattoos on his right fingers. He didn’t talk to us, just pointed at the table to have us sit. We were there about 1.5 hours, we didn’t see him smile once, he talked no more than 3 sentences to us. At the beginning I genuinely thought he can’t speak which is fine, but at the end when he asked if we want to pack the broth then I realized oh he can actually talk. He asked us if we want to take some broth while there was almost nothing left because he didn’t come to add the broth even once himself, we asked him to add it up once and he added it to the level that was below half the pot. He also spilled some HOT broth on my husband’s leg, of course he didn’t say anything at that moment or offer to help. At the end we asked some food containers to pack the rest of the veggies and check out. First he brought us two plastic bags, so you’ll just put your veggies into a plastic bag then put the plastic bag into another plastic bag. We’ve never received plastic bag as food containers at any other places. If it’s the rule of this place, then this is really bad. Second he disappeared after he brought us the receipt, it was not busy at the moment, more than half the tables were not occupied. I saw him smiling and chatting with another server on my way to the bathroom, he saw me walked by him then he started moving to our table. The person who delivered the pot and plates was pleasant and friendly at least. Please monitor and train your employees to do their...

CONS It's very important to know before you go here that this place heavily relies on the iPads they have set at the tables.
When we first walked in no one from the staff talked to us and we waited for about 15 minutes before anyone came up to us to ask if we had put our name on the wait list.
There is an iPad as soon as you walk in sitting on a stand, normally it says "tap here to join the waitlist" but the person before us must have turned it off so we were unaware.
Service here from some of the staff was really great, the person waiting her tables was very nice. However we were not sure what the process was for ordering or joining the waitlist as I mentioned and no one came up to us, there's nobody even behind the counter when we arrived.
I can see that once you go there a couple of times and know the process it's very simple and I bet that it's a lot easier than normal restaurants, definitely a learning curve.
PROS If you enjoy hot pot this is absolutely the place to go, the decor and table setup is extremely unique and authentic. All of the food is brought out on very decorative plates, lots of very unique drinks.
All of the food and broth is good as you would expect, also coming from a food safety background it seems very clean.
All in all I would definitely go again, absolutely worth the trip, my only criticism is that service is very limited for someone with little experience in hot pot or if you have never been here before like us. If you have never been to any hot pot place this might not be the...
