Came here to dine in with the family and wanted to compare this location to Taiwan cafe (which is my go to for Taiwan cuisine) in Chinatown, Boston.
There were quite a few of us so we were able to sample quite a few items. We started off with a few complimentary chicken soups that came with some of our lunch special dishes and it wasn't too bad.
The spicy fish fillet with vegetables is good especially if you like your food spicy. The fish was tender and the spice gave the whole dish a nice kick to it which I enjoyed.
The shrimp and egg dish is standard fare. Shrimp was well cooked and seasoned though ultimately nothing special.
My parents ordered pig intestine as it's a Taiwanese specialty but I didn't partake since I'm not a huge fan of it but they enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely a "adventurous" dish to try!
Chinese watercress with garlic is my go to vegetable dish that they made well here. I enjoy the crunch of the vegetables and when mixed with the sauteed garlic, it really brings out a smile in me.
I was pleasantly surprised by the roast beef (spicy) rolled with the scallion pancake. It had a lot of flavor and wasn't dry at all (something I found at the Boston location). The spiciness definitely added to the dish and I really enjoyed this.
Soup dumplings I find were fantastic. The soup and pork filling was delicious and the skin isn't ridiculously thick. Comparable to Taiwan Cafe. I would definitely order this every time!
The beef noodle soup is another Taiwanese classic and they do it well here. The beef has a lot of flavor and is tender. Not dried out at all (which is a huuuge sin when making this) and contained a very flavorful broth with noodles that were cooked just right. Definitely a thumbs up from me.
The pork buns were also delightful. The bun had a nice texture to it and the pork filling had a lot of flavor to it. I was quite surprised as to how much I enjoyed this dish.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. All the food listed above came out to ~$70 not including tip which isn't bad at all for 6 people! We were all happy and stuffed so I say a job well done.
Wait staff was okay. They cleared out empty dishes when they happened to come by but our waters were left unattended unless we flagged one of them down. This place can be packed during the lunch and dinner rush so I won't fault them for not being more attentive. You'll have to be assertive if you...
Read moreThe man at the front desk was extremely rude. When we arrived at around 6:30pm, there were 3 tables empty. We have 4 people, he insisted letting us wait since he didnât want wasting his precious large table for our party. Left after several minutes, not worth it, so many good Asian food in this area.
reply: Wow, how typical! The one who is making up all the facts calling somebody else a liar. First, you sound like there would soon be a table available for us and we were just too impatient to wait. The truth is that the 2 people who were supposed to be 'finishing up' by your measuring standard, they were still talking and drinking at that table. All other tables were either waiting for their food, or at the beginning of it. Secondly, when I asked you if we could seat at the large table, you pointed to the waiting area at the restaurant entrance condescendingly without a word, if that is not called rude, define rude to me. It is interesting how hard you were trying to explain after you saw the negative review, but not a word of explanation to us when we were at your restaurant. And remember you were not talking on a phone at that time? I waited to ask after you hanged up the phone. Do we live in different spacetime or you just good at coming up with stories? And do I need to point out that there were not enough seats at the entrance for our party? Glad that you admit you are saving table for future customers with larger party, at the sacrifice of current customers. It is totally OK if that is the policy of your place, just let us confused and neglected customers state the facts in the review and hope to help others make a better choice in the...
Read moreTaipei Cuisine is a gem for food in the Boston area. My go to at Taipei Cuisine is a delivery meal just because I live in Boston with no car and getting to Quincy is its own adventure. Their (online) Pick 3 lunch special from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM for $38.95 is a steal and it feeds me and my partner for minimum 2 meals.
The first few times I ate at Taipei Cuisine, I was heartbroken to see that it was just out of my delivery radius, as I'm based in downtown Boston. There can be a wait on the weekends, but on weekdays, it tends to be quiet outside of peak lunch times. Then, I discovered they expanded their radius! UberEats has a fee to be delivered to me but it's well worth it!
I usually order the stir fried rice cakes with preserved veggie and shredded pork. There's bamboo in the mix as well and the rice cakes are tender and the dish shows up well packed and hot despite the far distance it has to travel.
Additionally, I order the Pick 3 - most recently, I ordered the Szechuan Spicy Fish, the Diced Chicken with Chili Pepper, and the Salt and Pepper Pork chop. The Szechuan Spicy Fish gets devoured immediately. The Diced Chicken and Salt and Pepper pork chop reheats excellently in the air fryer.
The meal also came with three small to-go containers of white rice, and three small soup. I've had a bone broth with seaweed and egg, I've had hot and sour soup. Everything shows up well packed with little pieces of cardboard inserted for the bag to maintain its integrity for such large orders.
I highly recommend Taipei Cuisine. It's where I take my parents when...
