Fat Tuesday Raleigh — Restaurant in Raleigh

I normally only post positive experiences I have with businesses because I don’t believe in putting out bad energy. However there are moments that require it. Sunday July 30th 2023 my wife and I with a couple of friends, went to this location around 10:30 pm. We were excited to see a place that was going to be open late on a Sunday. We were celebrating a special occasion and wanted to enjoy it a little more. Once we got to the door security from “Elite Security” James started scanning IDs. Our friend who is from Canada but has a permanent residence card for the US. Was denied entry. Not because it didn’t state how old she was but solely because the system used to scan IDs didn’t have the ability to scan that kind of ID. We asked was there a way to enter the needed information and that wasn’t an option. When we requested to speak with management James from the security company suggested he was the highest one on duty even for the Fat Tuesday establishment. He said his business partners were the owners of this Fat Tuesday establishment. He said the reason he needed to only scan the ID was so that if police randomly wanted to make sure everyone was above age they could come check their system. I found that to be a little alarming why would you share my private information with law enforcement when no crime has been committed he said because they serve alcohol they are governed differently. I told him I still don’t think that overrides my privacy rights. Plus how can seeing a system that would only show I am above 21 help them figure that out. Assuming they would turn away anyone who ID didn’t reflect an age over 21. He said Jarred the regional manager allows this policy. Because they don’t take IDs from other countries. The problem is the permanent residency card was issued from the US providing those who has them the right to live and work here indefinitely. If this is a system issue i suggest a system upgrade. If this is a policy issue I would suggest looking into the lawfulness of the policy. Also my friend had already been to this establishment before with no issue using the same ID. Most people who are permanent don’t move around with their passport. James even though he was arrogant and seemed a little miss informed never was rude or loud. That’s why I am giving a 2 instead of a 1. I hope to come back and enjoy this location with my wife and friends soon so I can give this place a better review...

This trip was one what was my first official outings in Raleigh since moving back to the area. And I had been to Fat Tuesday in Vegas, so I wasn't sure what to expect in such a slower paced area. But what a refreshing addition to the Raleigh nightlife, literally! With a little help from the knowledgeable gentleman behind the counter, I chose a peach bellini with addition of pina colada with a shot of Hennesey on the side. It was so good!! They have outdoor seating and a deejay led the patrons in a few rounds of musical bingo which was a lot of fun. It wasn't terribly packed, but I think if more people gave it a try, they'd become regulars. The atmosphere was perfect. A mixture of folks from different age groups, casual, laid back. It was a perfect way to spend an evening mid-week, if you don't want to overdue it before work the next day. I'm told they have different activities throughout the week, so I will definitely be back to check them out. It was a pleasant surprise and I'm excited to have a spot to chill now that I'm back home. The customer service from the time I hit the door was on point even the security guards were nice, people really need to chill on their complaints because of the area their in especially with the other business occupying the rest of the complex it’s understanding why they don’t have music can you imagine the complaints that the businesses would be giving? Y’all want Durham vibes from a location in Raleigh and that’s not going to happen cus we all know how RPD get down! Drinks were fire I'm not missing the food either because when I ordered food at the Greensboro location it was salty no complaints on that location either because I just came for the drinks. I wish they were able to provide more but be understanding we begged for a long time for this in a closer location now that we got it beggers can’t be choosers.
