Restaurant Review: Flip It!
If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Palestinian cuisine, look no further than Flip It! Our recent visit was nothing short of delightful, and it’s a dining experience we won’t soon forget.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm atmosphere adorned with beautiful Palestinian artifacts that immediately transported us back to cherished memories of our grandparents. The chairs, featuring exquisite tatreez embroidery, added a unique touch to the ambiance.
Nada, the wonderful ownser, truly made our meal special. She expertly guided us through the menu, allowing us to customize our maqlooba, a traditional upside-down rice dish. With her attentive approach, she asked about our vegetable preferences, ensuring each plate was tailored to our liking. When our maqlooba arrived, it was a vibrant and delicious spectacle that lived up to every expectation.
To complement our meal, we indulged in the exquisite kanafa, which was perfectly sweet and satisfying, paired with refreshing mint tea that was simply spot on. The experience was further enhanced by a tray of fresh Palestinian appetizers, accompanied by the finest olive oil, which added a rich depth of flavor to every bite.
Dining with our family of 16 was seamless, as the staff at Flip It! ensured we were well taken care of throughout the evening. Each member of our party left with full bellies and happy hearts.
Overall, Flip It! is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Palestinian culture and cuisine. We can’t wait to return and enjoy another unforgettable meal filled with flavors and memories. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a genuine taste...
Read moreTucked away in the Triangle is a gem of a restaurant that lives up to its name in the most delicious way. Flip It is inspired by the beloved Palestinian dish, Maklouba. This hearty, fragrant meal of rice, meat, and vegetables is cooked in a pot and then flipped upside down onto the plate. It is a dish that celebrates community, and so does this restaurant.
From the moment you step inside, you feel like you’ve been welcomed into someone’s home. That is no accident. The owner created Flip It with family in mind, using her mother’s recipes to share the rich flavors of Palestinian cuisine with her community. Every dish is made from scratch, with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. She handpicks produce at the farmers market, soaks chickpeas overnight for silky hummus, and roasts eggplants to smoky perfection for the baba ghanoush.
This is not fast food. It is food made with love and intention. It is best enjoyed slowly, surrounded by friends and family. That is part of the experience the owner hopes to create: a space where people gather, share stories, and reconnect over warm plates of home-cooked food.
If you are lucky, you might catch the owner herself and hear about her journey, her culture, and her childhood. She is warm, welcoming, and full of stories, including the one behind the beautiful mural on the wall. The mural shows a family friend flipping Maklouba and captures the spirit of the restaurant perfectly.
Whether you are a fan of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine or simply looking for a family-friendly spot with heart and flavor, Flip It is a must-visit. Come hungry, bring your people, and prepare to leave full in every sense...
Read moreMy family and I are visiting Raleigh from out of state. Before our travels, I just so happened to see something about Flip It on social media and I knew I had to try it while we were here! Not only were we not disappointed, but the whole experience far surpassed our expectations.
First, the food is absolutely incredible. It is all authentic, made-from-scratch, and so, so delicious. My family and I literally tried EVERYTHING on the menu lol, from the appetizers to the desserts, and it was all amazing. There was not one thing we didn't like.
Second, the atmosphere is just as wonderful as the food. The restaurant is decorated beautifully with so much attention to detail. Everything is gorgeous, from the chairs, to the napkins, to the tea cups. The owner and staff are so welcoming and kind. They made it feel like home.
If we make it back to Raleigh in the future, I will without a doubt come back to this restaurant. For those of you who live in or close to Raleigh, do yourself a favor and patronize this business. I guarantee you will not be...
