Nice little spot. Historic building, modern interpretation, and I absolutely LOVED the exhibit on the USS Raleigh and the city's flag (though I wondered why the signage doesn't say where the original is? The signage does say the city has it, but the two hanging on the wall certainly don't look old). In fact, it was seeing pictures of that exhibit that I came - I love old naval artifacts and the Reina Cristina gun mount was enough to get me to visit Raleigh by itself. I also liked the baseball exhibit quite a bit, and its creative arrangement. The AC was a super bonus for how hot the day was, and I always appreciate a free museum.

I took two stars away because the space feels slightly underserved/empty. There could be much more on display. Also, as clever as the booklets were for carrying through the exhibit as opposed to permanent signage, I found it difficult to reconcile what I was looking at with captions in the booklet, and felt awkward standing in front of artifacts reading a book rather than looking at the displays themselves. Additionally, I think there's a dark chapter of Raleigh history that was a missed opportunity to explore in the COR Museum. As it stands, the city's history was basically condensed to one wall, the USS Raleigh exhibit to the other but shared with a politics & education exhibit, and then the back half of the space was for baseball history. For a city as old as Raleigh, there's plenty more that could be told & shown in the first part.

Nevertheless, if you're downtown, spend the 30 minutes looking around in here. It's a great primer for the NC History Museum on the other side of...

Our experience with the City of Raleigh Museum as our wedding venue was nothing short of incredible! From the very beginning, we were looking for a space that was open and affirming for our LGBTQ+ celebration, and the museum exceeded our expectations!

Lynda, the rental manager, was an absolute gem. She not only welcomed us with open arms but helped us envision and plan our special day at the museum! Her professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication were outstanding. She went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our wedding was thoughtfully organized and executed!

The venue itself was a dream come true. The City of Raleigh Museum's unique and historic charm added a distinctive touch to our celebration. The open and inviting atmosphere made it the perfect setting for our special day.

Our guests were equally impressed by the venue and Lynda's hospitality. Many commented on how wonderful the space was, and we couldn't agree more. The City of Raleigh Museum provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories!

For any couple seeking an inclusive and remarkable wedding venue in Downtown Raleigh, look no further than the City of Raleigh Museum. Our heartfelt thanks to Lynda and the entire team for making our wedding day truly...

Great Private Event Venue!

We recently hosted our son’s rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the City of Raleigh Museum (CORM), and it was a perfect choice! The experience was exceptional from start to finish. The museum's historic charm provided a unique and captivating backdrop for our event. The beautiful architecture and well-maintained facilities created an elegant yet inviting atmosphere that impressed all our guests. The museum's exhibits added an interesting element, making the evening more memorable.

The CORM staff was accommodating and professional from our initial inquiry to the event night. Lynda, the rental manager, was a pleasure to work with. She guided us through the planning process, answered all our questions promptly, and ensured every detail was handled. On the night of the event, the staff was attentive and accommodating, helping everything run smoothly.

If you're looking for a distinctive venue in Raleigh for your special event, we highly recommend the City of Raleigh Museum. It's a hidden gem that will leave a lasting impression on you and your guests! Thank you to the CORM team for making our...
