We had family in town visiting and decided made reservations for brunch at this place. I cannot regret it enough. My husband and I both are gluten free. When we placed our orders we specifically asked for gluten free items. I myself repeated it 2 more times. My husband ordered his order of GLUTEN FREE French toast with no bananas. Our waitress even asked if wanted the powdered sugar and maple syrup. He said yes and repeated “gluten free French toast, no bananas”.
Everyone else in our party proceed to place their orders. The service was EXTREMELY slow to begin with. When the orders finally came, the food was cold. We didn’t complain because it had taken so long to begin with. The girl who placed my order down on the table had an AirPod in her ear. When she sat it down in front of me I asked her if it was gluten free. She didn’t respond. She kept giving everyone else their order. I asked her again , still no response. I tried to get her attention and either she really could not hear because of the AirPod that should not have been in her ear to begin with or she was ignoring me.
Several other people in my party tried to get her attention to confirm for me until one just tapped her. I asked her again was it gluten free. She said “yeah” without even giving it a second thought or looking to make sure. I asked her how she could tell. She said “it’s on the bottom of the plate”. I assumed it was something the staff knew because all of the plates looked the same to us. I took one fork of the biscuit and immediately knew it wasn’t gluten free.
Meanwhile, our waitress still hadn’t come back to make sure our orders were good or even received. So I just waited while everyone else in my party picked over their food. My husband began to eat his “gluten free” French toast during that time. Approximately 4-5 minutes later our waitress finally walks over. I asked her was my order gluten free. She looks and then frowns and says no. I didn’t know you wanted gluten free. Mind you I stressed it to her several times. Then I asked her was my husband’s French toast gluten free. She again has the same “puzzled” look and says “no, I didn’t know he wanted gluten free also”. Again we had a whole conversation with her prior to even placing our orders. She takes both orders back to redo them. She didn’t ask if we’d be okay or anything and gave us a very weak if any at all apology.
Again I sat and waited. During this time, everyone else has finished their cold food, even my husband who luckily for him had ordered something else along with the side of French toast. When my order finally did come, everyone was done and ready to go. Again, there was no apology for the misunderstandings. Guess what??? The new order was cold as well. Fast forward to now, both my husband and I have had negative reactions to the gluten and are driving home to take something for our headaches and upset stomachs. Thankfully, we wont require any medical trips behind their actions.
On top of it all, the bill was still charged for EVERYTHING. We will NEVER ever go back to Parkside and we will be sure to spread the word to everyone we know. The service, food, and staff attentiveness to customers and their dietary needs is TERRIBLE! They say never say never, but we have all concluded that we will never go back to this...
Read moreNo one waited on our table for 10-15 minutes. At about the 15 minute mark, the hostess came and said there had been a mix up and a waiter would be with us soon. We had at least two wait staff walk by and not acknowledge us at all. We did get a waiter who seemed frazzled but did get our drink and appetizer order. When he brought those out, we were already at the half hour point of our experience but still didn’t have silverware or napkins and had to request. Next as the waiter took our order, another employee comes up and whispers in his ear. He then begins to tell us it would take approximately 25 minutes before our food would be served due to a back up in the kitchen. At about the 50 minute mark, we ran out of saltines that are served with their pimento cheese. When we asked if it was possible to get more saltines, since we weren’t getting food very soon, we were told there would be a $2 charge. I realize two dollars isn’t very much but wouldn’t it have been a nice gesture to say you know what you’ve been here an hour and still don’t have your food do the additional cracker fee is waived. We ran out of water and no waiter in sight so just as we were about to get it ourselves our food came out and we were able to request more water. Food came out and was not good; honestly bordering on awful. Our party had… the meat loaf which was not very good and the meat beneath the gravy and mushrooms was blood red but the mashed potatoes that came with the meatloaf were disgusting. Still not sure what the taste was but almost like a rotten taste. Next person had a cheeseburger which was mediocre at best. And the third person in our party had the french dip and it was awful. It was over cooked (the meat was black & crunchy from being overcooked). Arby’s has a better french dip and would have saved a lot of money. The majority of the food was uneaten. Our bill was $68 without the tip. The disheartening thing about this experience was NO ONE acknowledged the wait and our waiter was oblivious to the fact that most of the food was still in the plates when we asked for our check. He did ask if we needed boxes but couldn’t put it together that there was a problem that we didn’t eat nor did we want boxes. This was the worst meal that any of us have had in a very long time and I personally felt sick after eating very little. I do not recommend and would not return. The only positive was it was across from a very pretty area and they had a nice...
Read moreManager is extremely rude, makes excuses for bad service, and defends with kitchen mess ups. I’ve had a few good experiences but a few times too many I’ve had food that was not suitable consumption. Mark if that’s his name mark MEIS was only concerned with socializing and being discriminatory after sending out under cooked bacon, eggs that were grainy, looked like slop, full of grease and water in a bowl Sunday. I have recommended this place multiple times because they have good food at times and I’m a person of second third and even forty chances but at this point the service is not as good and the food misses a lot of times it makes you sick. Beware! I’ll support and patronize a business that serves proper dishes, doesn’t come to their table act erratic, disrespectful, and attack customers when your kitchen is not sending out food to be served. This day it wasn’t busy, so there’s was no excuse as to why the service lacked, no refills, my drink wasn’t even brought to the table, certain food items were served that I wouldn’t feed an animal. This the manager or general manager, mind you he never even looked at the food he asked but stated he didn’t even see it and he didn’t care to fix the issue when clearly. He knows his kitchen has messed up with many orders before and it has been actually addressed / corrected which doesn’t make sense. That means that they knew what they made a mistake the first time it wasn’t right and shouldn’t have been served to begin with! This guy was so angry they were called out for not making simple eggs correct before that he was loud and nasty to me with my family because I didn’t approve and wanted my food made properly. If you decide to dine if you have an issue be mindful you may have a lot of bad food here and there , slow :rude service at times and management that is will not be accountable for the establishment mishaps . As a business owner I would never have anyone like him as an employee, handling my day to day operations or in my place of business. Also there’s definitely a difference in treatment for sure. They are more focused on hanging out and socializing with each other than taking care of customers some times ! It sucks because I like 2 of the servers when I come but I’ve had more bad experiences than I should when I’ve spent and sent ppl here . Which they stopped attending because of...
