MILKLAB - Smoky Hollow Downtown Raleigh — Restaurant in Raleigh

We wanted to enjoy some ice cream, and our friend chose this place. We were very excited when we entered this cafe. The room size was not big, and there were not many customers. The rolled ice cream and tea met our taste expectations. The tea was unsweetened, allowing us to enjoy the natural freshness of the tea without being covered by sweetness.

The ice cream was also not too sweet, so it didn't make us thirsty after enjoying it. Before leaving, I went to the restroom, which needed attention in terms of cleanliness. Although there were scented candles, cleanliness cannot be masked by their fragrance.

When we exited the door, we smelled a strong, foul odor coming from an open trash bin. The trash bin was carried to the kitchen by the cafe staff through the customer area, passing by customer tables. I don't know the health department regulations in North Carolina, but in my state, Tennessee, kitchen trash bins are not allowed to pass through the dining area. Kitchen trash must be taken out through the back door. If there is no back door, the trash bins must be closed and not left open to prevent foul odors from spreading. Leaving the cafe, we were very disappointed with the final experience...

Walked in as a group of 4 about 30 minutes before closing. We stood waiting for almost 10 minutes (with no one in front of us in line) for someone to take our order as the girls behind the counter (literally 6 feet away) stood just talking to each other and then drinking their own boba. When we were finally addressed the first 2 people in our group were able to order one bubble tea and one ice cream, when the third person in our group tried to order ice cream we were told they were no longer serving ice cream for the night. Which would have been fine had we not waited around for nothing and the first half of our group was able to order. They were also super rude about it. The girls continue to move at a glacial pace which was surprising for 2 people who so eagerly wanted to close early. Then, as we’re waiting for the first half of our groups orders we witness one of the girls sneeze openly around all of the (uncovered) ingredients and proceeds to keep making an order. She did not wash her hands. We were super excited to try this new place in the neighborhood but this experience has really left a sour taste in our mouths when all we wanted was...

Have been to this location multiple times and this is the first time that I have been disappointed with my visit. Came in and when tried to order rolled ice cream i was told it was going to be a 45 minutes wait which I can understand since they were busy but then we still ended up waiting 30 minutes for our two milk teas that we ordered because the barista was grabbing all of the tickets except ours so 3 sets of people with large orders got there’s all before us. When I realized this and mentioned it to the barista that took our order when I saw another order being made that wasn’t ours she didn’t even try to start making ours she just kept doing what she was doing before. When we got our drinks they weren’t even right because we both asked for no ice and got ice. This all could’ve been avoided if they just pulled the stickers in order but we waited 30 minutes for no reason. Will not be coming back to this...
